Had a very poor interaction with one of the employees here. Like, so bad that I turned around and walked out before I got food and I’m considering not coming back. I’m a student with a meal plan. The few times I’ve eaten in here are nothing to write home about. Food always seems to be lukewarm. 2 stars for food because it’s edible. The dining hall is usually overcrowded unless you’re there early in the morning or late at night.

Dear Rocky Top Dining Hall,
Thank you for this magnificent and sumptuous night in Paris. My gratitude extends beyond the circumference of the Earth. Ever since being a child, Paris has been a dream destination of mine. However, I have never been able to visit due to financial circumstances, but last night was my chance, and I took it! As I walked into the dining hall at precisely 6:00 pm, I was presently greeted by the staff at Rocky Top, all wearing French berets. As I continued deeper into the dining hall, I was impressed with the elaborate decorations and event booths. It was at this point I really knew I was in the beguiling city of Paris. With live, classical French music in the background, and the redolent aroma of the streets of Paris in the air, I gazed, awestruck, upon the 1-1 balloon replica of the Eiffel Tower. After navigating around the Eiffel Tower, I was able to find the source of the wonderful smell: a splendid display of a variety of freshly baked baguettes and freshly brewed soups. I couldn’t decide which soup to choose, as they all looked delicious, so I blended elements of each soup into a single bowl and made my way to my most cherished spot in the dining hall, where I could gaze upon the enchanting lights of Paris under the tranquil cloak of night. On the way, however, I was stopped by a curious little man who was skillfully, almost magically, crafting all sorts of objects out of balloons. He was so kind as to create a balloon baguette that was mine to keep forever. I lingered in the dining hall, captivated by its enchanting atmosphere, but when the last baguette ceased to emerge and the lights dimmed, I knew it was time to bid adieu and return home. I sullenly proceeded to the exit and just as I was about to leave, I caught a glimpse of Chef Remi removing his little rat chef hat as he was about to enter his wonderful abode in the hole in the dining hall wall. He waved to me with his little chef hat in hand and wished me a good night. Goodnight, Remi, and thank you for making my dream come true.

Most of the time the food is bland, dry, overcooked and full of unhealthy ingredients. They are frequently out of food and the menu online is simply just wrong. Also, they barely ever cook rice correctly and it usually is like eating little pebbles. I experience digestive issues pretty much everytime I eat at the dining hall. The only good parts are the bakery and the salad bar. It is sad that all freshman have to have a meal plan and are basically forces to eat this unhealthy, repetitive food.

Rocky top dining hall is probably the most disappointing and dissatisfying dining hall on campus. The food is always served cold. They always serve the same food, which 9/10 times is never cooked right. Most of it ends up being thrown away anyway because no one touches it. Half the time the 3rd floor is closed so there is always limited options.

They serve the same stuff every day… it gets old fast. Not wheelchair accessible once you get into the buffet part on the 2nd floor. They don’t serve food between lunch and dinner hours, and get lazy after 6pm.

Helpful, friendly and courteous staff. The food was good and there were many different options.
