Inspired by the vibe & cuisine of Baja, this cantina serves up margaritas, lobster & other seafood.

Food was top notch at this spot here. I loved that we had the option to have a full meal here from starting off with soup, tortillas, calamari appetizer (super crunchy), fantastic lobster that was cooked perfectly (every bite is a great memory), and topping it all of with some yummy dessert. Honestly I can’t even think of how everything else was because the lobster stole the show.

We arrived at Rockin Baja Tacos at noon when it opened on a Thursday. The restaurant was quiet and not busy at the time. We ordered “The Big Baja To Alaska” for two which was so much food. You start off with soup or salad, then the entree consists of lobster tails, king crab, carne asada and chicken. Sides include beans and rice, tortillas and corn on the cob. The seafood was deep fried which was a pleasant surprise and was well seasoned. It was fantastic. To top it all off, deep fried ice cream. Jose was very attentive which made the experience even better. I will be back soon!

On vacation in Newport Beach and stopped here for dinner on our second night. One of the best meals I’ve had in a very long time. The food was over-the-top delicious, hot, fresh, perfect. Guacamole was beautiful, chips and salsa plentiful. Service was absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend the frozen pineapple margarita, one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had in my life. We might make a trip back here sometime in the future just to come back to this restaurant.

I know I had been here before prior to my most recent visit. Granted, it must’ve been 10 years ago, or so. Its changed, but not for the better. They used to have shrimp and lobster buckets; peel their little legs off, then bathe them in butter…. oh so delicious. Its a thing of the past now, it seems. The menu is much more “baja” than it is “lobster.” The chips and salsa were great. The shrimp was gritty, like sand. One and done. Kinda like when you take a bite of scrambled eggs and bite down on a piece of the shell… its hard to keep going after that.
It wasnt terrible. But it wont be my first choice for seafood options.

!!!DON’T!!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️go this this place when me and my family went today we first found a bug in our soup, then we were served totally unclean plates(it doesn’t even look rinsed), then when we took some food home and found out the corn was rotten. Terrible place. Only go there if you want to get food poisoning!!!

During my second visit to this restaurant, I missed out on trying the fried ice cream due to the cold, but my wife relished every bite. The chips and salsa stood out with a unique twist, and their signature butter was exceptionally flavorful, perfect with the tortilla shells. Both the chicken and beef were tender and juicy, devoid of any dryness. Set near the beach, the ambiance was relaxed, enhancing the dining experience. The service was attentive and courteous, and the place was kept clean. I highly recommend this spot for a great meal.

I really had high expectations for this place… Ordered a bucket style dish. I was shocked to see as how little food was served… For the price that was paid… Also, the seafood had absolutely no flavor at all, and the crab legs were super skinny… The only thing that was pretty good was the steak and the little piece of chicken…

This place was right by our hotel and we decided to give it a shot. Definitely not the best seafood I’ve had, but not the worst. The lobster was a a bit chewy but my gfs salmon was cooked well. Some of the veggies were a closer to the burnt side, but overall it was okay for the price. The outdoor seating was nice, right by the harbor. The service was great though. And they had live karaoke on the Tuesday we went.

They no longer sell buckets of slipper lobster. They don’t have a salsa bar anymore. Crab tastes bad (has some bad chemical flavors that come through, not sweet and tender like crab should be). Chicken was grilled well and meat is tender inside but the flavor isn’t something enjoyable, we didn’t want to keep eating it. Beans and rice aren’t good, just cooked, no flavor. Corn is bland, grilled right, but no taste. Drinks taste like cleaner fluid is in them. Their chips are very thick and very hard, seasoning is good. Their regular red salsa is ok, just tomato and onion. The caesar salad was too much dressing, very salty, lettuce was good, but drowned. They need to have the dressing on the side. The only really good food was the lobster (meat cooked perfectly and flavor comes through just right), steak (excellent flavor, grilled perfectly, still tender inside), and mango salsa (fresh sweet and spicy). Our waitress was wonderful, very good host welcoming, immediately seated. The location is nice, depends on where you sit to enjoy views. Dining area is mostly clean (tables, chairs, floors only slight grime). Bathrooms ok. Decor is still funny.

The Mai Thai was great and am had a good balance of alcohol. The lobster chowder was amazing. Corn, potatoes and a good amount of heat. The three tacos were just alright: shrimp, steak, and chicken. None of them were horrible, but they weren’t anything I haven’t had before. The chips and salsa were different and wonderful! The kids loved their kids meals. The bean burrito, chicken strips, and burger. We’ll be back in when we visit again.
