We had looked forward to Rockfish arriving in Lyme but waited until the team had settled before visiting. Situated in the old Hix building overlooking the beach. This is an exposed location and if there is bad weather you are best to get a taxi or a lift to the door. Holmbush carpark nearby is free 6-10pm. Great views if you are seated close to a window.
We have visited on 3 occasions over the last couple of months. Two at a weekend and once during midweek. Our first visit was a little disappointing. Cold chips were presented with mains. These were quickly replaced. No finger bowl with mussels. I initially thought that this was due to the small tables but they were provided to other tables.
The Fish is excellent and if this is your main reason for attending you will not be disappointed. The chips are advertised as unlimited but they appear to be simply frozen chips. You are better off with new potatoes.
Starters and deserts are varied and are generally very good. I was surprised to see prawns that were not cleaned.
Limited beer selection with expensive cans/bottles the only option. Wine is okay but a little pricey.
The service team are really good. Attentive and friendly. Quick to deal with concerns.
Our best experience was midweek. Super hot food and beautifully cooked.
An enjoyable experience for sure but it sits in a specific spot in the culinary establishment given the limitations with the drinks menu, poor chips and potential higher costs.

I’ve eaten at quite a few Rockfish restaurants. Always a fantastic experience & food. The staff at Lyme Regis were personable, attentive & professional. Food was absolutely delicious & well presented. I’ll definitely be booking a table again when I’m back at Lyme Regis!

The food, views and service were perfect. Seafood was so fresh! We had hake with potatos and salad and it was fabulous. Daughter had unlimited chips (which were lovely quality) , it really made her happy 😉 fisherman’s coffee was delicious!

The restaurant also offered a wide selection of fish and seafood, all fresh and prepared to order. The kids’ menu was delicious as well, which is always a big plus when traveling with family.
To top it off, we received a complimentary glass of local wine from the restaurant, which was a very nice gesture.

We used to use this place when Mark had it,we live in the cotswolds ,and came down for the weekend so booked to try it,we took an early table ,and arrived early,we were seated straight away ,the place was really cold ,I kept my hat on,the girls who served us were nice and polite, but the food was definately not good, apart from the dessert,the food was very greasy,and tasteless, the prawn burger at almost 25.00 was quite horrid, the plate was swimming with grease,the chips were cold, I think if you are paying almost 150.00 for a bit of light suppr,you expect a bit better than that ,we won’t be back to eat there,its such a big shame ,as it was perfectly perfect before ,the view of the bay is something else,but having owned 4 restaurants and getting bib gourmand status, If there’s anything I know…its food, I wouldn’t recommend rockfish

We had a fantastic meal here – the food was excellent, the Rockfish beer and cider were also really good. We had a view looking over Lyme Regis Harbour at sunset which was just so beautiful. The staff were attentive and efficient and I would love to come again when back on holiday. Thank you to all the team!
