This was the absolute best detour we had made on the scenic route!! I loved normal shaved ice until we came here and had this fruity bingsu (shaved ice cream). 100% recommend and Lluna was the coolest and was the best!!

Pretty good stuff! The texture was smooth, fluffy, and refreshing — exactly what you’d expect from authentic Taiwanese shaved ice. The flavors were balanced and not overly sweet, making it a perfect cool-down treat. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and want something light but satisfying.

5 out of 5 Stars: I came for the ice, I stayed for my pro-surfer debut.
If you’re looking for a sign to face-plant into a bowl of frozen glory, this is it. Rockas Taiwanese Shave Ice isn’t just a dessert spot; it’s a high-stakes emotional journey where the only casualty is your brain’s temperature.
First off, the flavors. I don’t know what kind of wizardry they’re practicing in the back, but this ice is fluffier than a cloud wearing a cashmere sweater. The flavors are so “awesome” they actually made me forget my own middle name for a second. It’s not just sugar and water; it’s like a tropical symphony playing a sold-out show on my taste buds.
But let’s talk about the real reason I’m now a local legend: The Surfboard. They have this wave cutout and surfboard setup that is basically a trap for anyone who wants to look like a world-class athlete without actually having to touch the ocean (which is scary and has sharks). I hopped on that board, struck a pose, and for three glorious seconds, I wasn’t a person covered in mango syrup—I was Duke Kahanamoku’s spiritual successor. If you don’t take a photo here, did you even go to the East Side?
To top it all off, the service was so friendly I genuinely thought they might be trying to recruit me into a very happy, shave-ice-themed cult. I’m not saying I’d join, but if there’s a uniform and a daily ration of condensed milk, I’m listening.
TL;DR: Go for the flavors, stay for the “pro surfer” photoshoot, and leave feeling like you’ve just made ten new best friends. 10/10 would brain-freeze again.

This place is a hidden gem! It’s a small shack with a row of parking spots with a regular sized bench and small table with 2 chairs. We got there around 3:30pm on a Friday and they had ran out of fresh fruit except strawberries. So I recommend going earlier if you want a greater selection! I ordered the lilikoi base with strawberries. The base is made out of milk and the texture is so soft and fluffy. The lilikoi syrup tastes AMAZING and they pour sweet cream on top. I will definitely be going back in my short time here.

What a quaint shop, the folks that run it are fantastic! They have a lovely mix of flavors for everyone and the deco on their truck is a lovely addition to the tropical vibe!!

This is a must stop if you are in the area, especially during a sunny day, and will be pinning this location every time I return to Oahu, you will not be disappointed – 10/10!!

my taiwanese partner was delighted to discover a taiwanese bing establishment, rockas on a drive home through the northshore with such impeccable reviews!

we came through and ordered a mango bing and it was the perfect amount of sweetness, had just the right taiwanese shace ice texture, and had freshly cut mangoes on the top.

the portions are rather enormous and was more than enough for the both of us. i think with all things considered the value is rather excellent! it located in a little off street area in a little booth, manned by a super nice staff member, which is endearing. there’s two tables to sit, one round table with four chairs and then a picnic bench/table where a larger family or kids can enjoy some bing. we will visit again to redeem our free bing! i want to try the strawberry next.

Saw this as we were driving down kamehameha highway and immediately pulled over to try. We’d never heard of bingsu before, and we were so pleasantly surprised after trying it !!! We had the mango, pineapple, and strawberry – It was so much better than the regular Hawaiian shave ice lol. Lluna was very nice to us. Highly recommend pulling over!

Used to be great but the girl working didn’t honor the kamaaina discount. She said they don’t do that there. But we have used the discount other times. Ok, no problem.

We ordered 2 pineapple and 2 strawberry. The strawberry wasn’t as loaded as usual and the pineapple had no fruit! My husband asked and she said they were out of fruit. Had she told us, we would have all picked strawberry. She replaced the fruit with jelly boba, but we don’t like them. We were super disappointed.

We usually get served by the young guys and they are always cheerful and load up the bowls and it keeps us coming back, even though it’s a 40 minute drive.

The girl on the Instagram videos isn’t as nice as she seems. Very disappointed. We will stick to Island Snow.
