So, 3 years ago, my other half and I went there for lunch, and it was great .
He left a review (Jerome Ringland) that was good.
Today, we went back as we do not live too far down the road in New River, and this time, well, they fell very short from that review.
We got seating at a table and waited a rather long time for everything to happen.
The service was given by nice folks, but the attention was given else where.
HE ordered the 30 dollars ribeye, and i ordered the pulled pork Ruben. My sandwich was OK. A 7 out of 10, but his steaks was far from a 30 dollars steak ! Not even close.
We were told later that the person in charge knew that the quality of the steaks was not up to her standards, so the question now is.. why even serve it ?
A good amount of unchewable meat was picked off. Anyway , a small discount was applied, but we had not asked for that.
We then went and got a 27 dollars Chocolate pie and that too seems to have fallen short of their pie from 3 years ago. Maybe the chocolate..i don’t know. Just disappointed.

What a great place! It is a restaurant, sundry shop, and upstairs has a brand new Christmas section. We loved it. We did not eat there this time – but have before, and the meals are fantastic, the waitstaff is very friendly. It’s nice to go somewhere and be able to shop a bit as well as share a great meal. Highly reccomend! They also have a pie box, where you can buy fantastic homemade pies or slices. Cute little dining area and the yard was all decorated for halloween.

There are lots of great options in the gift shop. The restaurant had great tasting food with lots of variety to choose from. I opted for the BBQ Combo plate with brisket and sausage which was a treat! Ms.Julie provided us with excellent service which made the experience very enjoyable. Stop on by and don’t forget to add a pie slice!

One the best Pie I have ever had ! MUST TRY!
Very close to highway, feels like country side restaurant for dine-in.
Counter decidcated to pickup pies is best for people on road trip for quick pit stop!
Landscape is beautiful decorated which gives a warm feeling of Farm.

They aren’t joking about how delicious their “world famous” pies are, they were FANTASTIC! We tried slices of the blueberry crumble (try it with ice cream!) and lemon meringue, and both were incredible. After a long hike, we’d definitely worked up an appetite, which made enjoying the hearty Reuben and smoked Philly sandwich even better.

It was a pleasant surprise to come in for breakfast. The menu offered several choices, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Despite the pressure from the abundant flow of customers, everything ran smoothly. The Gift Shop was a wonderful place to browse a variety of items, including the famous pies. The restaurant even offered a sugar-free pie at a reasonable price. Parking was plentiful, and the location was convenient.
Overall, the experience combined great food, warm service, and thoughtful details that made the visit memorable. From the inviting atmosphere to the unique offerings in the Gift Shop, the restaurant proved to be more than just a place to eat—it was a destination worth returning to.

I was very disappointed with the Chocolate Cream Pie! There was hardly any chocolate flavor! I am visiting the area from Oregon and this was my only visit. I bought 2 whole pies, one for a gift to my local hostess.
The atmosphere of this historical place and the friendly, knowledgeable staff was fantastic! It was very busy on this Sunday. I have only tried one type of pie , and other local folks there had high praises for the other types of pie. I would come back to try a different pie.

We had an AMAZING time! We have passed this place at least 50 times, we finally decided to stop in and i’m so glad we did! Julie was our server and she was so friendly and sweet and made sure we were taken care of! The food was incredible and the pies were fantastic! This will now be a must stop for us when we’re coming down the mountain!

Just off the highway, it’s billed as a popular tourist stop. I personally felt the food was of average to below average taste, and a bit overcooked. We had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, the pulled pork Reuben with fries, and broccoli cheese soup. Restaurant service was decent but the store staff ignored us (no “hello” or “thanks for stopping by” or “goodbye”, which I would expect in that type of establishment). We did not have the pie because $8 for one slice of pie and $30 for a whole pie seemed outrageous. We took the very short walk to the”creek” and “waterfalls” (the water was pumped underground back to the top to go down the falls again). They were pretty and the sound was soothing. Didn’t visit the farmers market, as it began to rain. Gas was $4.39 a gallon ($3.79 in town). Glad we stopped so I could check it off my list, but it’s not special enough to go back or to recommend to others.

Food was good. Water tested under 200 ok.
Pricy for food and portions
Service was ok.
Salad was plain lettuce & unripe (hard) tomatoes and dressing.
My husband liked his burger. And the fish was brand in flavor, but I liked the light breading for the Cod.
