I came here multiple times while staying in Bangor. I normally dont eat Mexican since Ive been in Arizona for 10 years, but this place is pretty amazing. I came to eat ceviche multiple times, but would also recommend their enchilada poblana and the jalapenos app. Sooo good. The rice, absolutely flavorful. The salsa- absolutely delicious with a nice kick. Portions are actually pretty large, so if you dont have a huge appetite- the ceviche is enough (and I came back to order that only) and you dont really need an entree plate.
I also ordered the sopapillas- it was tasty but Im just going to say its not the fluffy hollow dough, but more like a tortilla tht was fried and sweetened. I did eat it all, but nothing absolutely nothing like a sopapilla I’ve had before.
The half pitcher margarita is perfect for those who drink more than 2. It was yummy and cold the entire time.

Real, serious Mexican fare in Bangor? *YES* In the area and it was dinner time. Now, I lived in Southern California for over twenty years and I know what south of the border food is all about. I read the positive reviews and figured it was worth a shot. Ummm, warm giant tortilla chips and zippy salsa; a solid start. Our server, Sergio, was friendly and fast. The place wasn’t busy, Friday evening around 8:30 and it took a bit longer for our meals to arrive. Worth the wait? **OH MY GAWD** the Pork Chile Colorado is amazingly flavorful and tender – a bit spicier than some New Englanders would be accustomed to. Even the frijoles were spot on.
My wife’s gigantic Shrimp Quesadilla was so good and the side of warm Queso for dipping put this dish off the charts – I can’t remember when she finished a meal like that without taking some home. Seriously, either of these dishes is more than sufficient to split with your table mate.
Our server said that this location was a ‘Ground Round’ restaurant, back in the day. You’d never know it from the way it’s appointed inside. All said, this eatery is a good one in my book.

I love Mexican food and my comfort location closed and I’ve been sadly looking for something else and unfortunately the others in the area just don’t hit that home comfort feeling. Until now this was so incredibly good that I crave it and am counting the days till I can go back.

Service was quick and very friendly. The chips and salsa were great! I ordered chicken and steak fajitas which came out with shrimp, which was okay since I like shrimp but not what I ordered. The chiles toreados were undercooked. The banana margarita didn’t have a strong banana flavor, more of a lime flavor. Food was fresh, but not my favorite. Lacked a little bit of flavor.

Would we eat there again? Probably. It wasn’t the best Mexican food we’ve ever had but it was good. The service was polite but detached. The atmosphere was efficient. It’s not “cold” per se but it’s not exactly welcoming either. All-in-all if you’re looking for passable food in a no-nonsense atmosphere with a “bring me my food and leave me alone” sort of vibe, this is your place.
We ordered chicken nachos and chicken chimichangas (pictured).

Went here for dinner today and the food was absolutely delicious! I got the appetizer which had a cheese quesadilla, flautas, tostada and some jalapeño poppers. My husband got the Arroz con Pollo and raved about the flavors. We were a little disappointed in the service because we were sat in the back corner and it literally took our server 10 minutes to get our drink order. However, food was delivered fairly quickly and server was friendly enough.

Had high hopes for this place based on others’ reviews, but came away sooo disappointed. Ordered the avocado tacos expecting a typical vegan street taco. Instead, I got old stringy chunks of completely unseasoned avocado, topped with cilantro that looked like it was chopped with a hammer instead of a knife. These were described as “crispy corn tortillas” so I was expecting soft tortillas lightly fried, but clearly these are just hard taco shells from a box. I could assemble the same from the grocery store for a fraction of what I paid. The accompanying chips were under-seasoned, the salsa had the texture of jarred tomato sauce, and the side of pico de gallo was just mealy diced tomato and onion — I should have taken a picture because I’ve never encountered a pico so dry and bland. I wish I could recommend this restaurant, but the meal I received was pretty abysmal. I don’t like to write negative reviews and believe every local business deserves a chance, but this lunch really was not worth the money. If I’d been eating in, I would’ve sent it back to the kitchen and asked them to make it right, but I was on a road trip and ordered to-go.

Stopped by for an early dinner. Food was amazing (had the Tacos Al Pastor) and serving sizes were great for the price. Service was also very quick, start to finish was 30 min though that may have been because we were there before the dinner rush. That said totally worth a try if you are in the area.

Roca Azul is by far the best Mexican food that I have had in Maine since moving here from Texas!
While we were a bit confused by the door situation entering the facility, the food more than made up for any and all possible engineering/architectural lackings! I had a burrito approximately the size of my face. It was flavorful and full of flavor! The sauce in particular was quite fabulous and it was packed with chicken. Ripley had a veggie fajita. It came with quite the variety of veggies.
I do wish the chips had salt on them tho…
Overall, I was very pleased with the quality and quantity of food we received. Thank you for your time in reading my review!
