Had an amazing date night with my wife tonight. She said “that is the BEST lobster basque I’ve ever had”

I have been going to Roberto’s for many years, back when he started his business Zantis on Gravois. Has always been top notch fine dining! Since new ownership I have experienced poor service and food.!!! I feel the need to write this due to a particular visit there. My Sister and Brother n Law was in from out of town , and I wanted to take them somewhere nice for Dinner to celebrate his retirement on 50 years military service!!!! From the moment we sat down the poor service started.. we ordered appetizers took forever to come, and looked like they slapped it together!! We then ordered dinner after waiting patiently for waitress to come back.. We sit waiting , and waiting.. The waitress walks by puts her hand up at us and says don’t worry it’s coming!!! Still waiting I get up and talk to the owner explaining the problem, he says ..She is new , and one of employees is out due to having had a stroke , which I sympathize with. He sounds as if he is justifying the poor service!! He then checks on our food , and it finally comes out only to be disappointing.. The waitress never came back the whole time, not to even apologize for her poor behavior!! My steak was burnt on the bottom and my Sister never ate her dried out salmon!! We get up to pay our bill at Hostess station due to no one addressing us once again!!! The waitress finally comes up as we are standing there waiting once again, and pay our bill… We walk out and my brother n law says , that is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, at a so called:: Fine Dining Restaurant!! I apologized on behalf of the restaurant!!!! I no longer consider this to be fine dining, and sadly will never go back !!! I suggest they they take a good look at what is going on there, or I’m sure others will follow!! Best Wishes

Undoubtedly one of the best Italian restaurants in all of St. Louis. The new owners, Matt and Jamie, are carrying on with Roberto’s unwavering detail in not only creating a great meal but the entire dining experience. Matt and their chef Alfredo, collaborate to offer numerous special plates almost weekly, one more delicious than the next. Also, when making reservations don’t forget to ask for Shannon, as your waiter, as she’s the best and never disappoints.

Amazing dinner tonight! Quickly seated, great service, amazing appetizers and entrees. Kids loved the fettuccine and tortellini. I had the sea bass which melt in your mouth and had so much flavor. My husband had the rigatoni with huge pieces of crab claws and shrimp. Everyone left very full and so happy! We will definitely be coming back! The owner was so nice and personable. Must visit if in St. Louis. You will not be disappointed!

We had a party of 20 and they knocked it out of the park. The food was an 11 out of 10 and Jamie and Alex took excellent care of us from start to finish. Hats off to the kitchen as well. The steaks were tender and cooked perfectly…this will be my new go to for a steak. Thank you Roberto’s for a wonderful experience!

Last Tuesday, I had dinner with 2 of my bosses from out of town. I assumed it would be a great place with all of the positive reviews I’ve read and heard from others who have been here. (It was probably ten years ago since the last time I visited) I had high hopes because the menu selection was small–do fewer dishes amazing rather than a robust menu with mediocre food. I was never more embarrassed by brining both of my bosses here. The food was awful. We order two appetizers, the calamari and also the buchetta. The calamari was so chewy that it was like having fishy gum in your mouth. The bruschetta came out pre-plated with a piece of cheese on top of it. I’ve never had bruschetta served this way, and by the time it came to the table, the melted cheese had gone cold–it was AWFUL. The bread they brought to the table was like a step above Wonder bread. One of my bosses had Fettuccine Aldredo. She said it tasted like white gravy with noodles. I had the seafood pasta, which I couldn’t finish because the calamari in the dish was chewy. There was salmon in it, which I found odd as well. We didn’t make a scene, or this a big deal at the table. I just told the server that we thought the meal would be better than it was. She did comp the appetizers, which I appreciated (and didn’t ask for). None of us could finish dinner, though. 2 out of the 3 of us got a pretty upset stomach later that night… Incredibly disappointing evening. I would never recommend this restaurant. Hate that I’m writing this for a local business but honestly if you’re going to call yourself fine/formal dining then I suggest stepping up your game.

Excellent food. Service was good. Only 4 stars because a few times we asked for empty glasses and dishes to be cleared after a bit. Otherwise the staff is very friendly and fun.

Expect to spend a lot more at this restaurant than many other places. The quality of the food justifies the costs, in my opinion. The calamari was not the best that I have had, although it was pretty good. The special handmade pasta plate had shrimp that was huge and so exquisitely cooked. The seafood pasta was phenomenal! The restaurant has a nice ambiance; the wait staff was friendly and attentive. If you want to impress someone, a meal at this restaurant may just help you achieve that goal.

Everything about this evening was perfect! We went for our anniversary and were wished a happy day both by the host and our server. The server and several other assistants were amazing – attentive but not pushy or hovering. The bread was good and the olive oil was outstanding! I had a glass of rosé that was excellent! The Caesar salad was fine – had a bit too much dressing for my taste but still retained crunch and had good flavor. My husband was brought the wrong rigatoni but it was rectified extremely quickly and his bolognese was smoky and different but really good! I had the veal piccata with white sauce pasta and the veal was tender (and not breaded so not soggy!), the lemon sauce was very tasty, and the pasta was lovely! We got New York cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert and they were TO DIE FOR. We will definitely be back for another special occasion in the future – this was truly a special meal in a lovely space that wasn’t crowded or loud. Thank you for an excellent evening!

My husband and I eat at Roberto’s at least once a week! Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Staff and new owners are very accommodating, and they make everyone feel special! Feels like being home with family (except I don’t have to cook or do the dishes).
