Our server Tom was absolutely wonderful server.
The flash fried Spinach and Lobster bisque was great, the Filet colossal, was not very flavorful at all. Filets always need a bit of help in this area and it was lacking. For dessert, I went with Tom’s suggestion for the blueberry gooey butter cake and that was superb!!
This week we took advantage of the special (black squid ink lobster ravioli), homemade tortellini soup – by far the best soup I ever had!, and the amazingly delicious caesar salad.
Their baked mussels are luxuriously self-indulgent!
Must top off every meal with the award winning dessert cocktail: KGB (Kahlua, Homemade Gelato, and Baileys)
Roberto’s is an easy choice to make for my husband and I any day of the week!
Then the waiting began.
About 20 minutes before we even got to hear the specials. The waiter started introducing himself, got pulled away mid-sentence, and had to come back later to finish like a Netflix episode that paused itself. Not his fault at all. The man was solo-running half the room like an Olympic endurance event. I counted at least eight black-shirt employees floating around, including the host, while this poor guy was absolutely busting his balls. Nothing but respect for him.
Now, the food. Credit where it’s due:
• The chicken? Excellent.
• The veal? Fantastic.
• The house-made gelato? Honestly, a strong finish. No notes.
Here’s the thing though: when menu items are flirting with the $50 mark, the service needs to show up dressed for the same occasion. I left full, happy, and well-fed… but also knowing I didn’t quite get the service experience those prices promise.
So yeah. I’m glad we went. I enjoyed the meal. I respect the hell out of our waiter.
But I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.
Good food, uneven service, and one waiter who deserves a raise and a nap.
1. Waiter said crab cakes were all crab – NOT.
2. Four slices of beet on a regular salad does not make it a beet salad.
3. Adding cheese to rice does not make it risotto.
4. The lobster bisque tasted like land o lakes cream with lobster.
5. One steak was almost just cheese and the other almost mooing to be cooked more.
4. Service and atmosphere were fantastic but apparently that’s what we paid about $200 for. Certainly the quality of the food didn’t make it a 5 star place.
