There is a reason this place has been here for 78 years! All of the staff were warm and attentive. Our waitress was wonderful and our food arrived quickly. The atmosphere was a lovely, authentic 50s theme. The prices were great, especially considering the quality and presentation of our dishes! We cannot WAIT to return!!!

I bought a car from Freehold Honda and wanted to Celebrate. Found this place on Google search and the Food was great. The 3 of us enjoyed the meal and only the counter seats were empty. I see why it was Crowded. You will need to bring Cash. No Credit Cards. We’ll worth the stop.

The eggs Benedict was delicious, and the hollandaise sauce was easily the best I’ve had in a long time. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. The place is spotless, warm, and inviting. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

A classic American diner with a warm, nostalgic vibe. Friendly staff, fast service, and generous portions make every visit enjoyable. The menu is big, the food is fresh and comforting, and everything is cooked just right. A perfect spot for breakfast, lunch, or a relaxed meal that always feels familiar and satisfying.

Roberto’s Freehold Grill is hands-down the best breakfast spot in Freehold!
The food is always fresh, the portions are perfect, and the service makes you feel like family. Every time I stop in, I walk out full, happy, and already thinking about what I’m ordering next.

If you want real breakfast, real flavor, and real people — this is the place. ️
Highly recommend!

Received the American Diner Cookbook as a gift and now we’re using the list to visit those old diners still in business!
Roberto’s (p128), around since 1947, is a beauty with great food. I was thrilled when one of the specials was homemade hash (yum!). Our waitress was amazing and the coffee plenty and delicious.
It’s cash only, so be prepared (there is an ATM on site, but it proved unreliable for a few people). Also, the diner is small, with stools at the counter, a few tables and booths, and it’s popular – there may be a wait. Be patient. It’s worth it for an old fashioned, delicious breakfast (or lunch!).
Three kids at the table next to us having a great time enjoying strawberry milkshakes that looked amazing. The staff is very welcoming of children.
There is parking in the back. The diner is not wheelchair accessible, with steps leading in, and it’s tight inside, for people who use mobility devices.

Welcoming environment with great service. Food was flavorful and hot. We got the Spanish omelet and corned beef hash which were both great. Coffee was fresh and didn’t taste burnt. Fair prices just note – cash only. Easy parking in the back with plenty of room.

My girlfriend and I spent 3 days in Asbury Park and the surrounding town on an unofficial Bruce Springsteen tour of his childhood homes, music venues where he got his start, and restaurants he frequents. Roberto’s Freehold Grill is among those restaurants, so we had to stop at his favorite breakfast spot! We love old diners and breakfast, so this was right up our alley. My girlfriend got the Eggs Florentine and I got the Eggs Benedict. These were the best versions of those dishes that we’ve ever had. So fresh and so much flavor! Our server was attentive and very friendly. We loved the atmosphere. Even though we didn’t have a Bruce sighting, there are several photo collages, concert posters, and other Springsteen-related memorabilia scattered around the diner. If you’re ever in the charming town of Freehold, NJ, Roberto’s should be at the top of your list of places to dine at. Thank you for the outstanding service, food, and atmosphere! We will be back!

Food was very good and service was amazing. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the home fries were just crispy enough. The inside was very cozy and had the retro diner vibe. I will definitely be coming back!

This review is in addition to my son’s who just recently left a review about Roberto’s. He had to visit a diner for a class he is taking at Rutgers University and was only allowed 250 words for a review – his professors directions. I feel this diner is worth more than just 250 words, so here is my review to extend on his.

Our family of 4 went here for breakfast and we were welcomed by the very friendly and humorous “Big Jim.” Not only is he the best host around, he makes the very scrumptious cheesecakes at the restaurant and in my opinion the best I ever had in a very long time. He has a facebook page called “Big Jim’s Cheesecakes” if you want to check out his amazing creations. We were seated immediately and were taken care of by Lorraine who was very friendly and attentive. At our table we had the sausage and gravy bowl – which was overflowing with delicious sausage, blueberry pancakes – filled with fresh blueberries, avocado toast that was loaded with avocado, eggs Florentine with the most perfectly cooked eggs and amazing homemade potatoes, red white and blue waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, strawberry milkshake that was thick and delicious, homemade rice pudding, a piece of Big Jim’s amazing cheesecake and bottomless coffee that would put WaWa out of business because it was sooooo good. All of our portions were large, everything cooked was hot and fresh tasting, the diner and bathrooms were clean and our overall dining experience was the best we had in a long time. Roberto’s Freehold Grill treats you like you are a part of their family that they actually like. You must go here!
