This place is amazing! The buffet has everything you could think of, fried seafood, spaghetti, BBQ, hamburger steak, fried chicken, fresh sausage, homemade biscuits, salad bar and all the vegetables you can think of. Homemade desserts, banana pudding, peach cobbler, a variety of pies and cakes. My first time here and it won’t be my last. If you haven’t tried them you should, you won’t be disappointed.

This place seems to be loved by the locals in my experience. It seemed like the tables were too close together. We couldn’t hear ourselves, have a conversation. Everyone else was listening and you could see them actively listening, every single bit of the food was fried, something. I had a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish.And some soup, and it was just so greasy.I couldn’t eat anything else.

Some weeks back, we had the pleasure of eating at Robin’s Nest. During our trip, I asked an antique store owner for his recommendation of a place to eat in Selma. We wanted to eat somewhere that was local and not mainstream. Robin’s Nest was immediately suggested. Directions to the restaurant were pretty easy
We walked in and the place was quite busy. That was our first indication that the food must be good. Unlike missy restaurants, you pay first and then sit. The restaurant is buffet style.
Shortly after we found a table we were greeted by the owner Darrell. I wasted no time in telling him we were newcomers who didn’t know the ins and outs and asked for his suggestions on what’s best.
It was an absolute pleasure to talk to him. He was friendly and courteous. We were up in no time grabbing our food. There is quite the variety to go from. Whether you like beef, chicken, seafood, fish or vegetables there is a wide assortment of that and more. This place is that delicious ‘warm with care Mama home style cooking.’
Everything that I tasted was delicious. I went back for seconds. When asking the wife what she thought, I got the nod of contention with no words because she was too busy eating. We were both stuffed but kept just enough room for dessert. The desert options much like the food options. are in abundance.
I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who is around the area. If you’re not, it’s worth the trip and the cost is absolutely affordable. We plan on going back to Selma and eating for a second time at Robin’s Nest.

Best Buffet in Johnston, Wayne, Duplin, or Lenoir Counties. Great variety and the flavor of the food is OUTSTANDING!! 2 people can get their Buffet which includes dessert and homemade ice cream and sweet tea for $33. Food is seasoned to perfection just like Grandma use to fix. Go elsewhere and you’ll be eating 2nd or 3rd place. All around GREAT, been going here for years now.

We have been here a lot of times. There are times when it’s crowded and times they weren’t. But servers are always attentive and most importantly food is good and hot. There are a lot of variety of savory southern food and desserts. Ambience is none but unimportant. We used to go to McCalls when they were in Clayton but Robbin’s Nest food is better!
FYI. We went there one time on a Sunday and we all know they close at 3. Too many people. The buffet area was chaotic, untidy, spilled food and very sticky serving spoons, generally unkept. My take is that don’t go on a Sunday. Best days are early Thursdays or Fridays. The buffet area is managed better and cleaner. Staff were still attentive but they just can’t handle the amount of people they serve esp on Sundays. Overall I am always a happy camper when I eat there.

If you’re traveling thru on I-95 or just looking for a good southern food buffet, this is the spot you’ll want to stop to, it has an wide variety of Meats, Sides, dessert & salad bar, it can get very busy and there may be a line but trust me they keep the moving, so your wait time won’t be that long & just know I think you’ll find it all worth the wait. If you love delicious down home cooking; this is where you want to go! Although it is always overcrowded, it’s worth the wait. If you don’t want to wait you can grab a plate to go. I usually get everything I want with a drink for around 15 to 20 dollars in takeout for about two days. The food is just as good leftover!

Food was ok at best. Not a lot of choices, mostly fried foods and some of the food was bland. Mostly cream pies for dessert. Chess pie was disappointing. Unchilled banana pudding left out on the side was very loose and watery. For the price, would be better to go to another buffet.
We’ve heard a lot of rave reviews but we’re disappointed. Barely any of the staff smiled nor looked like the even wanted to be there. I heard several of the staff complaining about larger parties scheduled for that day. The only reason I gave 5 stars for service is because our server actually was very pleasant and attentive and the people at the register were great.
The Cuban restaurant across the road at the North State Food Hall is much much better in my opinion.
