That kind of care and hospitality is rare and meant so much to us. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the food itself was excellent. We left feeling well-fed and genuinely cared for. Can’t recommend ROAM enough.
The jian bing was top notch (be sure to ask for extra crisp). Will be back to try more for this menu – very fun & tasty!
Another year, another great experience! As tradition dictates, I came for lunch and dinner on both days of the Convention .
The Singapore Curry, Spicy Pumpkin Soup, the Antichucho Skewers, Rangoon Dip, Kati Roll, and finally on the last visit, they had the Gumbo and the chef’s delicious Eggnog Crepes.
I also really enjoyed the El Charro mezcal drink.
Can’t wait for next year!
DIVINE! And yes, I meant to do that on all caps.
Do yourself a favor and stop in if you can.
I’m only in town once a year for a conference, but if they’re open, I’ll only eat here. It’s the most delicious international street food outside the actual street where it comes from.
This review is very long overdue as I’ve been here for lunch and dinner probably a dozen times now, but I guess I can just combine all my experiences into one. This time, I had the poke bowl (salmon, tuna was 86) for lunch, and for dinner, the spicy Thai soup, kapusta burger, and elephant’s ear for dessert. Their stout was also very good.
And for lunch today, I had my favorite – the (slightly) spicy chicken satay with thick noodles, and peanut sauce with peas/edamame and red onion.
The staff is always so attentive, and with the high ceilings and cozy decor, you always feel welcome and valued customer.
I’ll be back next year! At least 4 times!
The only word of warning: On a show night in Downtown it can be difficult to get a table, let alone parking. Find out if there is a show the night you will be visiting and be prepared.
The food, well, its food. Its is tasty, but I do not believe the price point on everything is truly justified. It seems like it falls sqaurely between mediocre and something special. I chalk it up to “we’re downtown” pricing. All in all, do give it a try, but dont go in expecting fancy, or confuse it for the other San Chez. Same owner, different resteraunt.
