We were recommended to check this place out while we are visiting Texas. I’m glad we went! R&K brings that rustic, classic country eating that I miss! The interior is old town style and has that Texas charm. Our server was friendly, quick and easy going. Our group of three all had their coffee, which was excellent, and the country fried steak combo.

It is very busy during breakfast. There are many breakfast options on the menu from traditional dishes to Spanish/Mexican breakfast burritos. Then there is steak and eggs. My father and I stopped in for breakfast. We ordered #3. His eggs were full (looking like three fluffy eggs), my eggs (photo shown)looked like 1.5 eggs. Someone in the kitchen should have noticed this.

Our first time there was this past Sunday about 1pm. Very busy but they were staffed well and the service and food was worth the wait which wasn’t real long. The food was very good, French Toast breakfast with Poached Eggs done right. Farmer’s Bros coffee was really good with French Vanilla creamer! We’ll be back.

Usually go for breakfast which is fantastic. Finally went for lunch. Had the smothered chicken with mashed potatoes, squash casserole and fried okra. Delicious. Dawn our waitress was friendly and attentive. We will be back.

Missed breakfast & wanted a balanced & filling meal. R&K did not disappoint. Specials were pork chops, chicken fried steak, salmon Patties & catfish. The chops & Patties caught my eye. I asked for 1 chop & 1 patty, & they charged a dollar to substitute so that made it $11.99 for the entrees; a fresh, hot, clean, very tasty baked potato ( I like to eat the skin & all); butter beans & a piece of vanilla cake. A great meal at a great price. The service was quick, friendly & thorough. A very good & pleasant experience.

We’ve been going to R&K for several years now, and we have always loved it. Unfortunately, our latest experience was absolutely terrible. We called to place an order to-go, and the woman who answered was incredibly rude, grumpy, and sarcastic. When my husband went to pick up the order, the same woman was rude to him as well. He stated that he was there to pick up an order and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Eventually she came back with our food but she definitely did not leave her grumpy/sarcastic attitude behind.
