A Masterclass in Crust at Riverside Pizza Factory
Tucked away in a spot with serious personality—complete with vibrant graffiti art and a peek into their high-end dough room—Riverside Pizza Factory is serving up some of the most technical and tasty slices I’ve had in a while. We sampled three distinct styles, and each one was a winner.
The Lineup:
* Detroit Style: This was a texture lover’s dream. It came out super crispy with that perfect cheesy edge, and we caught a distinct hint of smoked flavoring that really elevated the square slice.
* Neapolitan Slice: A beautiful, airy crust topped with fresh basil and a generous swirl of cream sauce. That cream gives it a unique sweet boost that balances the savory tomato base perfectly.
* The Tomato Pie: This is the perfect specimen of a classic. It’s heavily seasoned and focuses on the quality of the sauce and the crust’s bake.
The Vibe
The shop has an awesome, industrial-meets-street-art feel. From the “Pizza Factory” mural featuring a grinning slice on a conveyor belt to the literal factory-style pipes and gear, the atmosphere is as bold as the flavors. You can tell they take their craft seriously—look at that dough-prep station with the professional mixers and precision scales.
> Final Thought: Whether you’re sitting at the outdoor tables in the snow or grabbing a box to go, this is top-tier pizza.

The best pizza in the area hands down! I usually travel to NYC or Philly for a good slice. I’m so happy I found this hidden gem in Occoquan because this pizza seriously reminds me of a New York slice. It was so good, I ate there twice this week. The service was excellent also. This is my new go-to favorite pizza place in the area.

Another hidden – very hidden – jewel of Occoquan. We ordered delivery which was a mistake because the smell fills the car with amazingness. It is too hard to resist pulling out a slice and eating it on the way home.

Upon first bite, we found the crust to be crispy, yet melts in your mouth, toasted but not burnt. Reminds us of the crust we had at an alley pizza place in Sicily. Mozzarella is high quality – when you taste it, you will understand. It has an extra savory dimension to it. Spices are perfectly balanced and the tomato sauce is tangy and obviously homemade with small pieces of tomato.

Set behind a few stores overlooking the occoquan river, this pizza joint is a cross of Sicily and authentic New York. Well – Service is not just fast but welcoming – so maybe more Long Island than NYC.

One of the best pizza places in the area. Options for thin crust or Detroit style. The mandarin Italian soda was good. I’ll definitely be going back.

Keep in mind they don’t accept cash.

Ordered the pepperoni and maple bacon pies on 1/8/26. Paper-thin pizza, like a Ritz cracker. Essentially burnt. Pizzas were not sliced – had to return and ask to get them sliced. Staff was nice. Had a pepperoni pie last week and it was good. We ate these but I am disappointed. $50 for two pizzas with poor quality control is not worth it.

What a wonderful surprise!!! Recently opened, this place has amazing pizza. I had New York style with stracciatella, wow. The cheese sauce was creamy and added the perfect flavor to some of the best crust I’ve ever had. Its a small gem on the river. Ill be back!

Gosh… the cinnamon rolls
I stopped by on Friday and they were sold out, but Josh, the owner, personally reached out the next day to apologize and invited me to pick up a fresh batch. That alone says so much about the level of care.
And the cinnamon rolls? Hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely delicious, especially when they’re warm. Soft, perfectly spiced, and truly unforgettable.

Very unique place. Unlike any place i been around here. Personally i believe 4 things makes a pizzeria: slices, squares, seasoning and passion. This place has all that. Even the other local joints don’t come close to this and i been to all of them.

Got 2 slices one pepperoni and one stracciatella and THEY WERE DELICIOUS, excellent crust and the sauce was extremely fresh, one slight critique (personal preference) a desire of more basil. Otherwise extremely comparable to NYC slices like lucia’s and 9/10 the way there of lindustrie
