The location is off interstate 80 and sits right on the Mississippi River, so it was easy to access, had a nice quiet ambiance for a Sat afternoon along with beautiful views, too. They offer Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese dishes to choose from, which worked perfectly since we wanted sizzling rice soup and sushi for lunch. Once we sat in the booth, a friendly woman immediately greeted us and took our drink orders. We opted to try their egg rolls, sizzling rice soup for two, the Funky Monkey special sushi roll, and cashew chicken. The sizzling rice soup was the first item to come out. The flavor was incredible and the shrimp were larger than expected. There was the perfect amount of soup to ingredients ratio. Next was the egg rolls, here my husband and I are split on how we felt about them. I loved them because it was an egg roll in a spring roll wrap so I was able to thoroughly enjoy the filling without being overwhelmed with the outer shell. My husband liked the filling but wanted the heartiness of a traditional egg roll wrap. In any case, they were delicious! The Funky Monkey was next to arrive and was pleasing to the eyes and to the palette. The dark sauce had hints of maple but was more savory than sweet. We both were pleasantly surprised and delighted by it. It also enhanced the tastiness of the other contents of the roll. Finally they brought out the cashew chicken dish. We asked for fried rice instead of white rice. We did not realize it was more like a basic, almost vegan, fried rice with no eggs and there were also no vegetables; however, it worked well with the flavorful cashew chicken so we didn’t think much more about it. Overall this has become a new favorite for Asian cuisine and we look forward to returning to try their Vietnamese dishes next time.

Sushi was the worst I’ve ever had. All rice all soggy if you’re thinking of having sushi don’t bother. The fried rice that we received it looked like it was out of a Lipton bag also. I have been eating sushi my entire life. Horrible don’t even think about it. Just go to Sakura express. Dirty corners in building. Rude staff. Horrible experience

This restaurant is located in a beautiful area with the view of Mississippi river. The interior is also very fancy and comfortable. The food is not authentic Vietnamese but Americanized Vietnamese food, however, still super delicious. They also have sushi and American Chinese food. Everything is excellent, except for the staff. I appreciate that she did come to ask if everything was alright and refilled the water. However, I was very sad that she never bothered to have a smile with us although she chatted and laughed a lot with her coworkers/ sisters. I was a bit scared of her cold and distancing attitude. Anyway, I only stopped by here during my road trip and may not come back Iowa very soon, so I may not have a chance to revisit this restaurant. But I do hope that you can improve on the staff service as it is the only missing part. Except for that, this restaurant is amazing and deserves more recognition.

Here visiting from Knoxville, TN. Absolutely loved this restaurant! It has a nice mix of Chinese food, Vietnamese food, and sushi. Both meals we had were delicious and so was the sushi (surfs up). The sushi was fresh and it didn’t have too much sauce on it so the flavor of the fish still came through.

We picked out several entrees to share over a few days. Sweet n sour chicken, Kung pao chicken, cashew chicken, beef fried rice, egg rolls, twice cooked beef & they gave us dumplings free. We tried a little and liked it & put it in fridge. Reheated some later and it was even better!!! Everything was really good, thank you!!!

The server was lovely, the food came fast (we were the only diners), and the egg drop soup was decent, but I would really recommend asking for the check after the soup. The sushi rolls were dripping with a sauce that tasted suspiciously like maple syrup, and I ended up needing to rinse them off in the soup, which I’m pretty sure isn’t standard protocol.
The Mongolian beef arrived with a lonely mound of yellow rice and no green onions or other veg. Sadly, both that dish and the chicken/veg dish we ordered seemed to have taken a dip in the same “mystery dessert sauce” as the sushi.
To top it off, our napkins came pre-used (eco friendly choice though), and the vibe was like a massive sports bar or distillery, with college basketball on two screens and Christmas music playing over the loudspeakers. Two freight trains rumbled by mid-meal… let’s just say this was a surreal dining experience, but you will want to avoid if you are diabetic.

We have given Asian Riverside Kitchen three opportunities, and it fell seriously flat on two of our three visits. Overall, most of the food is bland and disappointing. Certainly not worth the money that we paid. I’ll detail our visits below:
#1: The menu mentioned that veggies and pineapple came with the food. When it came out on the plate, there was a pile of tiny pieces of chicken that were way overcooked and dry. No veggies or pineapple in sight. The crab rangoon were actually not bad, because they came out piping hot. As they cooled down though, the outer bits seemingly went stale, but the cream cheese filling was still good. Overall, not impressed, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt, given that we were there a week after their “soft open”.
#2: We ordered sushi to-go. This time everything was pretty good. Nice portions and evenly distributed ingredients throughout the rolls. 8ish out of 10!
#3: The better parts; Banh Bao was decent in flavor, but the ratio of bun to pork was way off and the bun was tough to chew. The chicken fried rice was decent, but very greasy.
The bad parts; the orange chicken was honestly a disaster. The chicken and orange sauce had cooled to the point that it was all one congealed, bland glob. I had to pry the chicken apart from each other. When I took a bite, there wasn’t much to comment on. After a few more bites, I had to be done with it. One of the two scoops of steamed rice was okay. A couple dry grains on top. The other was the worst. I ran my fork over top of the rice, and it made a scraping sound being so dry. I tried to take the dried layer off, then got a bite that was nearly the consistency of mashed potatoes. I immediately spit it out and was done with everything. We kept the crab rangoon and threw away everything else. Which is insane because this meal was $45!!!! Nothing about this meal says “$45”. Absolutely disappointed, to say the very least.
Long story short; IF we go back, it will only be for the sushi.

The meal portions are right sized.
The appetizers are too large though. Why do you need to have four to 8 appetizers per order and soup for one to two or three to four? You should be able to order a half order, especially for a single diner or a couple.
The kung pao chicken was sweet, not spicy as you might expect.
