Unfortunately, after all these years, we will not be returning. I would rather sit outside with sandwiches in a bag than pay for overpriced mediocre food and suffer slow service (again, not the fault of the servers). I am disappointed that they do not honor their customers, especially those who are loyal and who go to the trouble to make reservations months ahead of time. They should have treated us better than people who just showed up. That’s not poor service, it’s poor planning on the part of management.
We called down and ordered food, from the menu on the website (same as the menu that they gave us on a QR code). We ordered the bread service that was listed as rosemary herb focaccia, a salad with salmon, and asparagus that was listed as having black garlic mayo and roasted mushrooms (We also ordered a few other things.. these were just the problem items).
What we received – Salad with shrimp. A plain sourdough boule (Sourdough is good, but absolutely not what we ordered). The asparagus was like 6 pieces of asparagus, and missing both the sauce and the mushrooms.
Called to get it sorted, had a hard time getting to a manager. When she finally called me back, she was incredibly rude and basically told us oh well the menu changed. When I told her that I had ordered directly from the website and QR code that was provided she told me there was nothing she could do and that “she can’t just go bake us a different bread”. She was missing the point – I shouldn’t have to pay $100 for food I did not order. She then hung up on me mid sentence.
This hotel is usually sold out months ahead of Gasparilla – This year it is not – And I can see why. We have stayed here for years, but I think this will be our last. So many better options downtown.
It was around 6pm, so I guess there was no other manager to try to speak to. I guess I’ll try to reach out to the GM (I think they said Barry?) on Monday.
Have dinner and lunch. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served on top of mushrooms, spinach, and corn. Very nice combination.
The wine was mild Merlot.
For lunch, was a Ceasars salad and the house burger. Both were very yummy, and the burger was cooked well.
Good service both time, very welcoming and friendly. You can not beat the view
The food we got was EXCELLENT. I was with a party of 7 and we have nothing left on our plates! Drinks were made well!
The cocktails all sounded amazing. I had the Riverwalk because.. why not? That’s where I was, and I it was delicious and refreshing. I may have had 2.
I also ordered the grouper sandwhich with sweet potato fries. I had to ask if it was ordered because it took a while. It hadn’t been. But once it did get the order in, it was served within about 30 minutes. The blackened grouper was tasty, and the meal was served hot.
A DJ spun some tunes during the afternoon and evening hours over the weekend.
We stayed at the hotel so we were given a drink voucher. Online, it says you get a free cocktail with check-in….. it didn’t show that it was on selective drinks, but the guy bartender told us we had to choose from a handful of choices.
It was $80 bucks for my food item and 4 drinks. If you are looking for a party ambiance, this is it.
