This place is a gem.

I really loved the atmosphere at Rivera’s—the vibe, the photos on the walls, and just the overall feel of the spot. I didn’t catch our server’s name, but he was super cool and made sure we were taken care of the whole time.

I came in pretty hungover and had heard they serve really good menudo… and I’m so glad I listened. As soon as I walked in, I heard a lot of Spanish being spoken and saw multiple tables ordering menudo, which felt like a great sign—and it absolutely delivered.

This is some of the best menudo I’ve ever had, hands down. It seriously cured my hangover. I was also stoked to see they carry my favorite Mexican beer, Victoria, so I had a little hair of the dog to go with it. Perfect combo.

My girlfriend ordered a margarita and it was delicious too—fresh and well made.

I’m really happy I found this spot and I’ll definitely keep coming back, especially for that menudo. The fact that they even offer patas with the menudo just takes it to another level.

Highly recommend!

Tried menudo for the first time here tonight and absolutely loved it, especially with the little bit of hominy, fresh lime, onion, and cilantro! The shrimp ala diabla was also fantastic, perfectly spicy and so full of flavor, and a super generous portion. The tres leches cake was luscious but not too sweet and was a great way to cap off the meal! If I lived in the area I would absolutely make Rivera’s a regular in my restaurant location!!

We absolutely loved it super super delicious. This is a charming and quaint spot. Family owned and operated and you can feel and taste the love. I also love all the Frida Kahlo art on the walls. Try not to fill up on the delicious house salsa and chips. I had the 2 enchiladas ( one beef & one chicken w/ rice and beans. My husband had the chilaquiles. He said it was the best he’s had in a long time. They also have a take out and catering service. You won’t be disappointed. We weren’t and we are fussy

We went on a Sunday for brunch, and we waited an hour. The atmosphere was entertaining, and we made friends with all the other folks waiting. The food was ok, our server was great, and the chef must LOVE Oregano. It’s in everything!!

It was an absolutely amazing discovery and fantastic food and service. Portions were big and delicious. The servers were extremely nice and welcoming with great recommendations for what to eat. Unlimited nachos and tasty salsa while u wait for your amazing food. We were very delighted and thankful for finding it after our cruise and traveling. The atmosphere was very cute and filled with mexican art and the iconic Frida.

I’ve lived in Long Beach for 10 years now, and never bothered to try this place out… shame on me! Finally visited last week since I heard they had a good wet burrito. I was not expecting to visit a place with amazing decor and atmosphere. This place is easy to miss given how busy 7th street is. The neighborhood is a bit run-down and parking may be a small challenge, but don’t let that stop you from giving this place a shot. As soon as you walk in, you’re surrounded by classic Mexican pictures, decorations, and an overall amazing atmosphere that takes you back to simpler times. They have an express entrance for to-go orders and one for the actual sit-down restaurant. My server was incredibly kind and attentive. I ordered the wet burrito and got a sizable portion. It had the perfect ratios of meat, sauce, cheese, and rice. The server brought a load of chips and salsa, which is always appreciated. It was also a nice touch to see that they had Bohemia. Not many Mexican restaurants in the area have that beer, so I definitely ordered one. As good as the burrito was, the flan stole the show. Everything from the presentation, freshness, to quality was unbelievable. Great place to visit and I look forward to coming again.

Such a great spot for excellent Mexican food. I would highly recommend this place. I had the special of the day (2 carnitas with rice and beans) and it was excellent. The other people in my party highly enjoyed their meals as well. Their shredded chicken was some of the best I have ever tried and was so moist. The staff was very nice friendly and attentive.. The restaurant is quaint so I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation to make sure you can get in. They do have a to go counter so you can order and take it to the beach. House salsa is also delicious and very flavorful! Looking forward to coming back again.

Only downside is the parking is a little sparse so plan ahead to look for parking.
