Probably some of the best fried whole catfish I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere felt like I was at a fish camp down by the lake. Incredible price on beer. Had a pitcher of ultra for $8. Keep up the Incredible job!

Food was reheated you could tell . Chicken was over heated , hush puppies were reheats as well . Smallest pieces of fish ever . When I know they they serve good decent pieces cooked really well & fresh . Cashier was not very helpful & was not friendly.i won’t be going back .

Fish restaurant. Food Tastes good. Price reasonable. Ambience great. Staff are cooperative. Waiting time approximately 15/20 minutes. Went there on Friday evening when Music had been performing by professionals. Crowded but convenient.

I am not a picky person but we ordered some catfish and they were less than room temperature. The other chicken had one in so we had to wait a little longer and was warm it’s suppose to be freshly cooked. Sticky salt shakers and to honey container was so sticky.

I order to go when craving catfish and chicken bits! Love the gravey! My meal was packaged neatly with condiments. Food tasted great even though not freshly eaten from restaurant. Awesome service from ordering my takeout over the phone, to the young gentleman at window during pick up. He had a Great smile, nice attitude, which I felt welcomed and happily satisfied when I left the restaurant. Thanks for the great meal and service today RIVER SMITHS .

Fried okra, fried catfish, blackened catfish, clams, whitefish, butterfly shrimp, hush puppies, fries, puffs, sweet tea and red velvet cake. Hubby and I both ordered the trio and shared. Enough for leftovers. Everything was tasty.

First time eating at River Smiths. We came in for lunch 7/17/23. I had the catfish plate and my wife had the blackened catfish. She liked the fish, but nothing else on the plate. The salad had some wilted lettuce mix in and her corn on the cobb was dark and overdone and she didn’t care for the rice. My catfish basket was okay, but was lacking freshness. There was no wow factor to either plate.

I’ve gone to Riversmiths for years, started going when it was a little location off of the side road of 4th past Ave Q. Today will be the last time I go. Food was bland, really bland. I got the captain’s platter that has butterfly shrimp, popcorn shrimp, clam strips and white fish, comes with fries and coleslaw. I didn’t try the coleslaw because I’m real picky since getting food poisoning from a different restaurant. The white fish treated rather dirty, I know it’s fish and it has its own flavor but this was really strong, the breading just fell right off of it. The shrimp were bland, very little flavor. The clam strips were like chewing on a piece of rubber that didn’t want to fall apert and bland. Yes, I know clam strips are chewy, but this was bad.

Never will I ever eat here again. The service was just ok at best, the atmosphere was dark, depressing and looked filthy! I ordered the chicken bits both the chicken bits and the fries that came with it BOTH tasted like they fried in oil that had not been changed in years and like they had been cooked 2 months ago and the just reheated it. And it made me sick later on that night. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone!!
