To make the night even more special, Guru, who had been the bartender at our wedding, was our supervisor and server for the evening. He actually remembered us and our signature drinks! That small but meaningful gesture made the experience feel so personal and heartwarming. Guru’s service was exceptional- attentive, kind, and truly genuine.
The food was incredible, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the entire evening was filled with such warmth and care. Guru even gave us a dessert with ‘Happy Anniversary’ beautifully written on the plate. A huge thank you to Joni and Guru for making our anniversary celebration so memorable- we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect night.
This may have been our first time, but definitely won’t be the last!
5-7 minutes later we were given a table in the corner of the hall from where only 2 of the 4 people could see the river. There were still other tables with better views that were still empty.
The server we had was very warm and courteous. I did not get her name, but she made effort and provided great recommendations. We were all vegetarians and we ordered spaghetti in tomato sauce, roasted mushroom ravioli and linguine pesto. The portion size is good for one person with average appetite. The spaghetti was nice, the ravioli was very light and tasted great, unlike the super creamy ones that become a challenge to finish. The linguine pesto was great. It had the perfect amount of pesto flavor in it.
The food and our server saved grace and got this place to three stars. If the hostess was a tad bit nicer, I would have gone for four stars.
This was our very first trip to Canada and in the afternoon after a quick drink the very welcoming bar lady convinced us to come for dinner for the lamb shank. We returned but unfortunately the hostess created such an unpleasant experience we just can’t bring ourselves to give these guys anything positive. Everyone in Winsor has been exceptionally welcoming but this hostess should be fired as this was really an us v them situation and they just don’t want Americans in the building. BTW we are actually South African citizens so makes it even more inexcusable! Great food was ruined by poor employees.
It was my friend’s birthday and we brought a cake with us, and staff did a very nice job plating it, adding & lighting a candle & writing happy birthday on the cake. They also were nice in that they allowed us to take our time with taking photos & deciding our order. The waiters were very pleasant, especially in contrast to your average waiters. Very good experience.
Greek salad – 9.5/10
Side order chicken with salad – 8.5/10
Pesto linguine – 8/10
Funghi ravioli – 9.5/10 — sauce was incredible
Hot chocolate 9/10
They said at the beginning of the meal that they were giving out a complimentary dessert to everyone that evening, but we didn’t get one. I think they genuinely forgot to.
4 stars overall because
– restaurant was very cold (they did have a tiny heater running which I thought was very nice but it just didn’t do the job)
– they forgot to give the complimentary dessert
– the food was not that great during my previous experience
However, the food itself was just average. I’d say 3-star quality at best — nothing really stood out in terms of flavor. What made the experience a bit frustrating was the chef coming out to argue that the steak wasn’t undercooked. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I know the difference between medium and rare. That moment took away from what could’ve been a much smoother dining experience.
Overall, come here for the view and service — but don’t expect too much from the food.
