Was passing on through, no real destination in mind taking a long vacation through the wilderness of the Rockies. Arrived in Walden, and decided to grab a bite to eat. Best choice ive made, I ordered the Rib-eye, with Toni, who was an amazing server. My steak was cooked to perfection, I lived in Texas for a while and have grown to understand the value of good smoked and grilled meats. While im more accustomed to juicy, buttery, and extravagantly season steaks… There is a perfection to this steak, that comes with experience and practice, a powerful smoky flavor, with the richness of the seasonings.
The country fried steak is also a mouth watering blend of spice and richness creating that flavor you crave over and over.
In short, I’ve been to alot of restaurants in many towns and cities across America, and Walden has easily made my top 3.

Stop my beating heart!
The CUTEST cafe inside an adorable, log cabin lodge! Our server (I don’t remember her name ) was so fantastic with menu help and knowledge of the local area. She told us where the town moose hangs out, confirmed that we DID INDEED see pelicans and gave us the best hospitality!
The food was delicious! I had the salad with grilled chicken and it was ENORMOUS! Like a serving platter of salad with 2 perfectly cooked chicken breasts on it. My husband had a burger and salad and same thing, 10 gold stars

We were up in Walden for a few days so we were able to eat at River Rock Cafe a few times. Food was delicious. Portions big. Prices were very reasonable. Service on our first night was about a 3 star. Service in the morning was fantastic. Our waitress was quick and courteous. Thank you very much Toni!! You were awesome!!

Great rustic restaurant hidden in Walden’s small downtown. The food was reasonably priced, especially compared to other Colorado mountain towns, and the service was friendly and fast. I’d definitely stop in again, and would love to stay at the adjoining hotel someday.

We arrived pretty close to closing time. Didn’t realize they close 1/2 hour between breakfast and lunch. We waited about 10 minutes to get a seat. Almost left as we felt bad being so close to closing. Glad we didn’t. Service was great. Our biscuits and gravy was some of the best I’ve had. We will be back to try out the lunch menu.

Walked in the door took 23 minutes to get seated, took 12min for them to even ask what I want to drink. Then said that’s the only drink I could have. Food came and I found a whole finger nail in my mash potatoes. I had to take 2 week off work because my stomach was so messed up from the food!!!
