River City Saloon is located on the west side of Grand Rapids. River City Saloon has a reputation for being like the bar in the TV show Cheers with the best and friendliest staff around. You are only a stranger the first time you walk in the door, after that you are family. River City Saloon has a great stage for bands, an ample dance floor, incredible lighting and Diamond pool tables. We have a Happy hour every day from 3 pm until 7 pm which is $1 off any drink! We also offer $2 long neck domestic beers 3pm-7pm daily!

Rolled in haggard right at opening off flight from Tampa, FL. In a Bucs tee in Lions country no less.
The people were very local and authentic. While they seemed slightly skeptical at first as every local saloon should be, the locals were more than chill and cool, friendly and decent as long as you’re not there to eff about. If you do want to act out, I’m sure the friendly locals would roll ya right out without a second thought.
Excellent pour on the draft beer. Great non country music in the background. Some of the best bar food I’ve had and trust me, I’ve tried my share.
This joint is authentic and real and was a lovely taste of what Michigan has to offer off the beaten corporate path.
I’m champing at the bit for a chance to go back. Y’all are lovely people with a really cool scenic small city vibe. Keep on keepin on – please

Visited here for live music which was good but the band took a good 35 minutes to set up. Small space so expect it to be very loud. Service was lackluster – we waited at least 15 minutes to even be acknowledged. Their holiday drink specials however were very good.

As a handicapped individual i was holding the arm of a friend as i walked into the establishment. Apparently this is why the bartender (and self proclaimed manager) refused to serve me as my friends played pool. When I explained my disability she simply stated she was going to call the police. I looked her dead in the eye for 3 minutes after telling i was waiting for an apology i never got. I simply left the establishment never to return and to ensue my fellow handicapped friends follow suit. You should be ashamed of yourself!

I’ve been coming to this bar since I was a kid (with family obviously, and I’m 35 now). After a 4 year break I came back and while it looks a bit new on the inside it still has the atmosphere and friendliness I remember and love, even under the new ownership.
I came on a Thursday, I had the olive burger and it was the best olive burger I’ve ever had. The bartender was awesome (she had purple hair with pink/hot pink in front, I’m not the best at identifying unique colors).

Fun atmosphere with live music. Bartender was nice but our server was really rude. As someone who also works in the service industry, the way she treated us was just disrespectful. She had pastel purple ish hair in pig tails for description.

This was my go-to bar when I lived in the Grand Rapids area. The staff knows how to adapt to every customer’s personality and make them feel welcomed. I have also always appreciated the good food and drink knowledge of most of the bartenders.
