We really enjoyed our first visit to River: A Waterfront Restaurant & Bar. The vibe is amazing, and the drinks were excellent. The Pom Pom Martini and Apple Old Fashioned were both well balanced and perfect for the atmosphere.
The food was clearly flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, but temperature was a bit of a letdown. The braised short rib and whipped gold potatoes were cold, though the flavors themselves were great. I also had the 28-day dry-aged Kansas City strip—the taste was bold and empowering, but the cook was uneven. That said, I would absolutely order it again.
Appetizers were a standout. The crispy Gulf shrimp was incredible, and the bread rolls were to die for.
Service made a big difference—Veronica was amazing: attentive, kind, and especially helpful since it was our first time. Management presence was mixed, but overall the experience was positive.
Great drinks, strong flavors, and a beautiful setting. With more consistency in food temperature, this place could really shine. ✨

We came here for our christmas family dinner. Our waitress was Kat. This was our first time here. The holiday vibe and atmosphere was great. The food, especially the small plates were good size to share amongst the group. My favorite was the braised short rib the gingerbread toffee cake i took home

Caryl was excellent. He had great knowledge of the food items and gave great feedback. I loved that he was passionate and enthusiastic about the food, restaurant and owners. He was very responsive, respectful and engaging. We have already told others to visit because it’s an experience and atmosphere!!

We stopped in to see what the hype was about. It was a Sunday, so the menu was very limited. We started out with drinks, strike one they could not make the drink listed on their special. Water glasses remained empty, and water bottles for tables could not be found; strike two. We ordered French Toast, chicken and waffles and their truffle fries; we had it all come out together. 30 minutes later fries arrive and a single wrong entree comes out; and goes back in. A minute later what I ordered went to another table who sat 30 minutes after us. Another 10 minutes later the that table gets a second plate, exactly the same. The duplicate comes back to head server, it is instructed to go in the kitchen to wait for the other wrongly made entree to be completed and then go to my table. I explained I didn’t want that food after it had been shopped around connect the cream for the strawberries and cream would not hold up well under a heat lamp. At the 45 minute mark for waffles and French toast in doubt raised about their standards, we were all set and canceled the remaining order. I informed this to the manager, Kristof, who offered a “sorry.”
I will tell you, their hand cut fries with the skins on were amazing. The drink I did get was fine, and that the view both along the window inside and anywhere outside is great. I really hoped this restaurant was going to be a good one as it is along a route we regularly travel.

Place was absolutely stunning. Went on Halloween and the interior was decorated and the location is overlooking a beautiful river. Food was good as well. Bartender knew how to make a drink.

We visited River: A Waterfront Restaurant and Bar for the first time last night for Valentine’s Day and, unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.
The food came out very quickly, which is usually a positive, but in this case it seemed to be part of the problem. Both of our soups and our entrées were served cold. After reading other reviews, it appears this is not the first time guests have had issues with food temperature, which makes it even more frustrating.
To their credit, the manager did remove our two soups from the bill and offered to remake my wife’s entrée. We appreciated the effort to make it right, but by that point we were just over it and ready to leave.
We really wanted to enjoy our Valentine’s dinner, especially given the restaurant’s beautiful waterfront setting and the special occasion. Unfortunately, the quality and temperature of the food didn’t meet expectations. I hope they address the consistency issues, as the location has a lot of potential. I’ll consider returning again in the summer to try their outdoor dining experience.

Would’ve rated 4 stars for the boring chatty hosts who greeted us, but our waitress Veronica was amazing! She was very talkative, attentive and answered whatever questions we had. The pork chop was also delicious

Totally not impressed with this place. I ordered the rigatoni and asked him to put a couple of meatballs on there. The plate of rigatoni was $27 and then the meatballs were an additional $18. When it came out, it looked like a kids meal. I get that when you eat at a high-end restaurant that your portions are a little smaller but this wasn’t high-end at all. The rigatoni was hard and the meatballs tasted like I was eating chili. Nothing high-end about the taste. As a caveat to that, the food came out cold. When I complained, the manager came out, but I wasn’t impressed with the way he handle the situation. Won’t be coming back here, and I advise that you don’t either. The only thing that this place had going for it was the river outside. The building that it is located in was pretty rundown.

Great restaurant, I went with friends and had a great time. Food was so good and the waiter was so pleasant. They had gluten-free bread for substituting and remove other things I didn’t like. Definitely recommend this place.
