Rito’s Mexican Food

  4.6 – 2 reviews  $$ • Mexican restaurant

Rito’s Mexican Food is celebrating 45 years of business this year and we could not be more excited about the future as a company. What began as a neighborhood convenience store within the Garfield Historic Neighborhood quickly found itself selling more burritos and tacos from its limited to go only kitchen, than grocery goods. To that end, Rito and Rosemary Salinas decided to pivot the Rito’s concept into a take out only Mexican Food establishment that has served the Valley Of The Sun time honored family recipes spanning generations. Like a true family owned business Charlotte works along side her sister, nieces, nephews, sons and long time staff some of whom have been with the company over 30 years.

No-frills, cash-only take-out spot featuring a menu of burritos, chimichangas & other Mexican eats.

This restaurant has been making great Mexican food since I was a kid. I had my first Green Chili burrito back in the late 70’s when I got out of Garfield elementary school across the street. My grandfather who worked for the City of Phoenix back then ate here at least three times a month because he loved the food. This place continues to serve the same great food I remember eating with him. There is a legitimate reason Rito’s wins New Times Best of Phoenix each year.

The original location in the historic Garfield District is my favorite stop for green burro enchilada style. Love coming to downtown Phoenix so I can make a pit stop for delicious Mexican food.

First time being here, a little house across from a school. The food was very very tasty. All the workers were great and tipped the young lady working hard with a great attitude despite her challenges in life. I will be back and young lady, keep smiling as I will be back just because of your kindness.

The location is nondescript it doesn’t appear to be any sign indicating that it’s a taco shop. Apparently all the locals know about it judging by the cars that are driving up and parking on the curb. I ordered tacos. They were okay. They were shredded beef and chicken. They were fried in corn shells. I can’t say they had a lot of flavor. The hot sauce was not hot. And in the end it cost me $31 for six tacos and a soda. I don’t really recommend this location for tacos. Maybe it’s better for other meal choices.

Any native born Arizonans who knows their Mexican/Chile cuisine would recognize that this is an excellent restaurant. Could not recommend more delicious. Summer visitors beware that there is a lack of indoor seating (only outdoors) but the food was so good I didn’t care! I got the burrito and it is exactly what o crave when I visit home.

I grew up with Ritos and this was Delicious like the good old days.. But the prices have definitely ranked up over the years. I would say, portions are a good size but it ads up, for 3 people I paid close to 60 dollars. My enhcilada style red Chile burrito alone was 17 dollars with a side a beans. It used to be my weekly stop but now maybe once a month if possible.

Rito’s is a family owned small restraunt tucked away in a neighborhood close to downtown Phoenix. This restraunt is very busy during the lunch hour. The food ordered here is usually to go. There are tables outside. The menu is simple, the food is delicious and has good size portions.
