Rita’s Mexican Restaurant in Hampstead, NH for a couple tacos, a burrito, tequila, beer & a massive margarita. I had been feeling Mexican food & margaritas for awhile & wanted to find a new spot I had never been yet. So when this hole in the wall popped up on Google & was 20min or so away with a tequila bar, it was like it was meant to be. I had been eating to many burgers so I figured I’d mix it up & cross the border down south. The place was bumping when I arrived & every table was taken up in the lounge, but I was able to score a couple seats at the very end of the bar. There was only one bartender running the entire restaurant since somebody called out she said, but she still kept her composure & grabbed our drinks & food without much delay with a ton on her plate. I scooped a beer to start out before all the tequila happened so let’s get into what I drank.
I started off with a PACIFICO CLARA Lager from Grupo Modelo, not my first one & not something I would get if their was a good craft beer selection, but it’s a decent light lager. I then moved onto a neat pour of one of my favorite middle shelf tequilas, Hornitos Reposado. That prepared me for the massive 64oz house margarita that was to easy drinking & made for a fun challenge for not only myself, but also my bladder that evening.
I ordered a handful of things ala cart including beef & chicken soft tacos & a beef burrito. I also grabbed a side of refried beans because why not put a few bucks into a plumbers pocket this time of year. Everything was good, the burrito was average, but I really enjoyed the way they toasted the soft shell tacos & layered the ingredients so the lettuce & vegetables don’t get soggy. There was all your usual seating options here including tables, hightops & a decent sized bar. I had to wait until the place was almost closed to scoop some pics without all the people. A fun little hole in the wall I’m happy I got to check out & the big margaritas gimmick would be perfect to split with a friend or two, cheers! ❄

Rita’s Mexican Restaurant in Hampstead, NH is an excellent spot for great food and drinks. The food is fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, with generous portions and plenty of options to choose from. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The margaritas are especially great—well balanced, refreshing, and the perfect complement to the meal. Overall, it’s a consistently enjoyable experience and a place I’d highly recommend.

We went for two dollar taco night and did not disappoint. We also had a couple appetizers, but the tacos were very full. I have hardshell and soft shell, beef and chicken. Both are delicious but I like the beef better. There is only a wait because we had such a big party.

I got here at 5:50 I immediately was asked what I wanted to drink I ordered my food at the same time by 628 my food was nowhere to be seen 10 minutes later it showed up. I was never asked if I wanted another beer nothing. I also was never asked if my food was any good. Or if I needed anything else. By 6:50 my food was done. And I was talking to a local we were both going to have one more drink. But by 7: 10 when we had still not been asked we asked if we could get checks. It’s now 7:35 and I’m only now leaving. The food was good the bartender pays attention only to her regulars.

Amazing!!!! Food, and service was amazing! I had been to little Mexico and was sad when they closed. This place the food takes a bit to gwt to your table because they need time to cook it and its great so its worth the wait.

I agree with the comment below, that this place is just like the Little Mexico restaurant that closed. I missed their enchiladas and that best ever macho sauce, and now this place has it!! The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, although I think we heard her saying it was her last day there. The chips and salsa were awesome, and I’m looking forward to trying the fried ice cream next time because we were just too full! Great place, definitely my new go to from now on!!

Fajitas were very good, and service was great. Waiter was attentive to all booths. Clean little place in strip mall.

Unlike some recent post here which of course leaves out many very important details of how a particular incident began and also leaves very negative posts on every establishment visited, I would like to say I love this place! My family and I have been longtime fans of Little Mexico and now carried on by the family with Rita’s and the food remains excellent. Yes, when busy it’s sometimes slow to be served, but given the size of the Cantina it is tough to keep up, but they do. While there I often hear people whining about waiting to be seated or PO when they are told the kitchen closes at 9…some people there is just no pleasing. I’m hear to tell you this place is a great local establishment and family run business with great traditional Mexican food and wonderful Margaritas. I also often notice how poorly the wait staff and hostess are treated by customers while there and it’s just sad people today are so abrasive and lack the ability to recognize the effort put in to try and make dinner for them and just be nice! Sure, there are options around, but if you’re in Hampstead or Sandown and want a good Mexican meal and adult beverage, check out Rita’s…the family has been serving the area since the 1970’s so you should trust they’re doing something right. I think it’s more just some people can’t say anything nice about anything these days….the same people that don’t tip well and don’t appreciate the time and effort some do to pack up their dinners and insure it’s all perfect before you head home to enjoy it with you families. Everyone needs to start being just a bit nicer to wait staff and hostesses, and think of others maybe before spreading bad and fraudulent reviews all while covering up the entirety of their story. Folks should try Rita’s, you’ll like it. -Regular Patron Since 1999

My friend and I came here for St. Patrick’s Day. The place was surprisingly empty (it was 40 minutes before close time). We sat at the bar and ordered two margaritas that were on special. The bartender provided exceptional customer service! The food however was very mediocre. The salsa and queso tasted like it came out of a can. We only ordered nachos and drinks. I will come back and try it again just in case the food quality was a fluke.

Just moved to the area from or of state. Wanted to give this place a try and went on Tuesday night with my son. The waitress was nice and very helpful. But not much of a personality and didn’t really check on us after serving the food.
I ordered a special margarita for $13 and I got a martini glass full of ice for a drink. Every other table got margarita glasses. The taste of the drink was great but for the price I expect more than a shot and a half.
I ordered tacos and a salad and my son got a plain beef burrito. The ground beef was plain, and when I say plain I really mean no seasoning in the meat not even salt and pepper. It was also drier than Death Valley in the summer. The shredded cheese on my tacos had the consistency and taste of the government cheese we got in school in the 80’s. We ordered fried ice cream to go home with as we were still hungry. I’ve had fried ice cream a various restaurants throughout the country and this is the only place that fried a bowl of dough and scoops the ice cream into the bowl. By the time we got the check and someone to come by and collect the card to pay it was 15 minutes (with ice cream sitting there table).
The meal was just over 65 for a margarita shot, two tacos (on taco Tuesday), a side salad, two fried ice creams, two sodas (3.50 a piece) and a chicken finger platter to go (frozen chicken and fries).
If the owner does look at these comments, please season the meat and make sure the bartender is aware of the glass they are using for the drinks.
