We are at a Rita’s Italian Ice at a different location from where we always go. We were excited to be staying so close to a Rita’s on our vacation and had plans to get our dessert here each day. The girl that took my order on the first evening we got here was making my gelati wrong. She’s supposed to put the custard on the bottom before putting Italian ice in the cup. After I asked her, she looked at me as though I was crazy but she then was corrected by who appeared to be her supervisor or manager on duty that it was supposed to go on the bottom. She then started to dump what she already scooped in my cup BACK INTO the main container the Italian ice flavor is in that they scoop from to sell to everyone. After I asked if she was supposed to do that, her manager asked me “she didn’t touch it with her hands”. Yes, I know she did not touch it but I don’t think this is professional protocol for when an employee makes a mistake to be putting it back. I’m not an idiot but I know that’s against food code and standards or whatever it is!

I love this Rita’s. The Manager is super nice and always remembers me. All the girls I’ve ever seen working have been very nice and patient. They’re not trying to push you through even with a line. They always let you try things out before you decide and they come up with some pretty tasty creations themselves. Never disappointed. The customer service is seriously outstanding. Oh and everything I ever get is delicious. Great selection of custard and ice.

Do not wast a trip to this location because they may or may not be open. Choose one of the many other establishments in the area which are more consistent on their store hours. We drove from Gulf Shores only to find the doors locked with the employee standing inside looking at us. There are plenty of places on the island that would love to have your business. Learn from our mistake.
