I usually really love this location, but last week I asked my friend to pick up a pack of their custard sandwiches. I couldn’t believe the price for 6 ice cream sandwiches is now $34 and they weren’t even filled to the edge of the cookie. I would have brought them back for a refund but I had already eaten one 🙁

I usually love this Rita’s but not today after paying $1 for a shot glass of whip cream for my dog. When I asked the lady and told her I previously got other larger cups full she proceeded to tell me “ well we all do it differently here “, than told me these two cups are the same size. I would have paid $1 for the other cup, She made no solutions to fix it, I’ll never be back here with my dog again. Absolutely rude.

Do Not Patronize This Location!

This Rita’s location is awful! Today is the first day of spring, and as always, Rita’s is supposed to offer free water ice. I typically use this opportunity to try the newest flavor and decide if I’d like it throughout the season.

However, when we arrived, we were shocked to see only three unusual flavors available: Peach Ring, Red Sour Patch Kids, and Watermelon Sour Patch Kids. When we asked if those were the only options, the employee at the window rudely responded, “Yes, the only free ones. The other flavors are available for purchase.”

I was floored! On Free Water Ice Day, they deliberately limited the selection to the three least appealing flavors—ones that many people wouldn’t even want. This feels incredibly shady and like a blatant attempt to force customers into paying for better flavors.

Something seems off with how this location is being run, and I think the franchise owner should be investigated. I won’t be returning!

The good news: great shop, great Italian ices and other frozen treats.
The bad news: no prices posted despite significant increase. 3.25 for a kid-sized Italian ice.

I ordered a “large” custard. $5.25. I was surprised to see a very small amount of product. When I asked about the quantity, I was told that a large is 5.5oz and a small is 4.5oz. I also had to prompt the cashier for my change. There will be no repeat business from me. I did a little research on frozen custard cost. Based on weight and without considering overhead like labor, electricity, rent, machine cost, and franchise fees, I received .35 cents of product for $5.25. In summary, I believe I paid about 15 times the cost of the product alone. There are likely better choices out there that may be more cost effective.

Great snack and they always have a “pup cup” for my dog! Blue Berry is so good.

Please teach your staff how to make a Sundae, such as no one puts the whip cream first and the hot fudge and toppings on top of the whip cream. The whipped cream should be the last part. In all my years I have never had a hot fudge sundae like the one I got tonight. I had hardly any fudge or toppings for the price. Disappointed to say the least.

Listen! I’ve been going to this Rita’s since 1997. At the tender age of 10, having spent my life growing up in Colorado where water ice isn’t a thing…..It was THE first place I ever tasted this magical creation.

Today I called looking for banana water ice. The very nice woman on the phone said she didn’t have any BUT she would make it for me within the hour! I mean talk about customer service! I was flabbergasted I knew this place was awesome since I was a kid having spent many a summer night sitting on the bench with my dad but to add to the nostalgia the customer service is out of this world I cannot recommend this establishment anymore to anyone it is hands-down the best Rita’s in the state of Delaware!!!!
I look forward to bringing my children and someday grandchildren to share a memory and sweet treat on the same benches with such gracious folks!

I wish I could leave negative stars! never in my life have I felt so disrespected. my kids grandma got them all 5 dollar gift cards to ritas so we get there and order our water ices and I go to pay with the gift cards and they tell me they can’t use them. HUH? then proceed to ask me to pay for them another way. I didn’t have any other form of payment with me at the time because I was using the gift cards as payment. then they proceed to insult me in front of a line of people by saying ‘YOU don’t have ANY other form of payment?” as if implying I’m some broke person. the young girl calls her manager “Tyler” who tells her to go tell my kids who are already in the van eating up their water ices to their hearts desire that they need to give them back… WHAT???? This is the worst customer service ever. NO SIGN SAYING THEY DONT ACCEPT GIFT CARDS AND NO NITICE FROM CASHIER. How is this my and my child’s fault??? TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED FOR TREATING KIDS THAT WAY. luckily a blessing came by way of a good patron who paid for the water ice. Tyler you should of took the gift cards and fix your card machine because I as the customer was not in the wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself. don’t waste your time with gift cards here. -10 STARS.
