Went to Rita’s today with my husband, it was his 50th birthday , he has a severe illness and we were celebrating his successful surgery! It was alittle late and about 40 minutes until closing , but We went to his favorite ice cream place , which is Rita’s. When we got there , the door was locked , and two girls , a blonde and a brunette ,were staring at us up and down from inside. They finally opened up the door for us after giving us dirty looks , and then proceeded to be very rude and rushing my dear husband while he was ordering. Then after we ordered, they followed us to the door and locked it right when we stepped out . My husband was very upset, his Rita’s wasn’t even prepared correctly, he got the custard with cherry ice, and there was no custard on the bottom. Very upsetting Rita’s 🙁 hope those two girls learn a lesson !!!

Hey, if i pay 10 bucks for an ice cream…take the “fake” our bathroom is broken sign down……..we were there at the Friday Car Cruise night and this was up….every week…..run your store like you care about your patrons …….you serve food and have seating….this is not code compliant

OMG! On an afternoon when it would have been TOTALLY OK to close up shop during a family/owner emergency, a sweetheart of a lady saw two 9-year olds sweaty and craving Rita’s as she was locking the doors to attend to an emergency. She unlocked the doors and showed me and my kids the heart we’re all hoping to see these days!! The registers were shut, doors locked, ice covered, etc. These gals couldn’t have been sweeter and I’m forever grateful for their selflessness.

I tried getting the 4th of July deal, from another Rita’s, forgot they arent all owned by the same person, because i tried getting a red white and blue gelati. And they didn’t have blue ice. Shame. Basically its a custard bottom, then blue ice, then custard again, then red ice, and finally vanilla custard (again) on top. Bummer, I really wanted to try it!

Supposed to be open NOW!! Chairs still up. No one there. Not good business practices..It is now 1pm. and there still not open. How can you run a successful business with these practices?? Owners should be held accountable for the people they hire to run their business. On a day like today when its well over 90 degrees they should’ve been open ON TIME?? RIDICULOUS!!

Ice is watered down. Custard sits in machine for days, weeks and does not taste good at all. Good location, but not worth your time in Somerville.
