P.S.
The 3 best water ice flavors are- in order : green apple, strawberry, & mango.
Unfortunately, my family and I had a terrible experience at Rita’s in Absecon on Mother’s Day. We visited for a simple treat and waited a long time for our order, but we remained patient and polite throughout. Once we finally received our ice cream, my toddler accidentally dropped her spoon. I went to the counter to ask for a new one, and while the owner gave me one, she did so reluctantly and questioned why I needed it. I explained that my toddler had dropped hers, which should have been enough.
A few minutes later, I accidentally dropped a spoon myself, so I went back to ask for another. This time, the owner reacted with visible anger and snapped, “Are you kidding me? These spoons cost a lot of money. This is ridiculous, and this will be the last time.” I was shocked by her attitude and replied, “Wow, it’s just a plastic spoon—this really isn’t that serious.”
She then said we were an inconvenience because they were about to close. My husband, upset by how I was being treated, asked her for another spoon and even offered to pay for it, asking, “How much do you want—$1?” She refused but did eventually give hubb and slammed the service window shut in our faces.
I understand that everyone can have a rough day, but this kind of rude, unprofessional behavior—especially on Mother’s Day—is unacceptable. We were paying customers simply asking for basic courtesy. If this is how she treats guests over something as small as a spoon, I can only imagine how others have been treated. Truly disappointing and not how a business should operate.
There’s a few custard places in the area. Rita’s isn’t very different EXCEPT it has daily soft serve flavors. Issue is you pay for that… (notice how ice cream definitely got the inflation bug? Rita’s isn’t going to help your wallet – so I only will go back if they have a soft serve flavors I love that day)
As your top 5% Google reviewer of all thing’s yummy you can trust when I say… daily flavored soft serve is like finding a magical oasis ice cream paradise in the middle of a desert filled with Dairy queens on each horizon and they’re not a mirage… they’re everywhere… why? Dairy queen is pretty darn good. I has the same thing I order from Dairy queen and it was basically the same flavor wise… they also didn’t have a flavor of the day in soft serve I wanted…
So Rita’s has a feature on their site where you can get ice cream alerts for your flavor – amazing idea. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working right now [RITA’S MANAGEMENT IF YOU READ THIS PLEASE FIX… THEN ADD MORE FLAVORS DAILY]
It says to call for today’s flavors. Phew for that
I’ll update after I return.
