Real truth: amazing food, gorgeous space, Rita is a fiesty ball of fire you’ll love if you appreciate fiesty balls of fire. The service is not fast. She makes everything herself. Worth the wait. Great space for quiet, meeting locals, date night. I’m coming back for Rita and everything about this place.

Rita’s Gate has become our local go-to whenever our daughter craves curry. The family that runs it is very sweet and always takes good care of us. We’ve order most of the curries on the menu, and have never been let down by the quality of their food, but we usually fall back on a few favorite dishes.
Our daughter always gets their Butter Chicken. It’s one of her favorites on the westside. We usually have to get 2 orders because she devours one herself, so we need an additional to share. It always satisfies.
The Lamb Achaar is terrific with its savory, spicy, and tangy flavors and has become my favorite.
The Chef’s Special curry is also terrific. We’ve had it several times with every meat option available, and shrimp is the way to go.
Their Saag Paneer is one of the better ones on the westside.
And the Eggplant Dish (Baigan Bharta) is fantastic.
If you’re looking for Indian food in the area, I highly recommend Rita’s Gate of India.

I enjoyed another great meal at Rita’s today. I had my usual, chicken tikka masala and my wife had Lamb Vindaloo, extra Hot. Both were delicious. My opinion is the food here is fantastic and authentic. I travel to India and Dubai on business every two months and have sampled hundreds of great Indian cuisines and I tell my associates there I am lucky to have a great Indian restaurant near my home in Los Angeles that compares to any local place, thank you Rita , , regards, Bill Kinsey

Pretty good food. Staff was really friendly. Samosa seemed homemade. My tikka masala was great but some of the veggies were cold inside the hot mix making me wonder if it was previously frozen? Leaving 4 stars because of the cold items and the prices were quite high but I’m sure their rent isnt cheap.

BEST Indian food in LA by far! From being greeted at the door to the amazing food and service this place was 5 stars all the way. I’m half Indian myself and think my mum makes the best Indian food ever, but this place gives her a run for her money! Talking about prices, it was super reasonable coming in at under $50 for a couple of mains and an appetizer. Star of the menu was the tandoori chicken and the garlic naan. I’ve never had better garlic naan in my life, it was soft and fluffy but also crunchy and not too chewy – I was seriously amazed and had to force myself to stop eating (but ordered some more to take home ). Anyway, love this place, love Rita the owner and cannot wait to come back!!

The food wasn’t great. It was just okay. Too rich gravies upset our stomachs later on.
Service was really fast after they took our order but they took forever to come and take the order in the first place.
No restrooms allowed! Like really?!
We ordered two appetizers chana puri and bhel puri, they were good. Vegetable koftas were good but again the rich gravy. 🙁 Chana masala was good. The other two non-vegetarian dishes were just okay.
Will I visit them again? No. They are very pricey when compared to the quality of food.

Best Indian on the westside. We love all
The vegan options and my son loves the chicken options. The lamb is good too. They can adjust spice. Family run place.

Rita’s food is amazing, her best style dish is the lemon fish curry. If you order it, you should have it spicy!! Reason being is because it’s already sweet, the spicy flavor mixed in leads to an experience that is riveting and sublime to the American palate. It’s so sublime that it would go subliminal!

Average Indian restaurant in Santa Monica. Vibes were very traditional, cozy, and the aroma was filled with spices. The chicken tikka had quite a large portion but was extremely expensive ($26). It was also on the sweeter side which some may or may not prefer. Service was a bit slower even when restaurant was practically empty; would recommend going if you have money to spend. However, the food was very good overall.
