I usually pick up burritos at least once a week. Recently, my son asked me to pick up two burritos from Rita’s — one for him and one for me. It’s about a 20-minute drive each way. I paid $14.14 for both and dropped his off at work before heading home. Before I could even open mine, he called to say his order was wrong. I checked mine, and it was also incorrect.
I drove back to get his burrito, then made another 20-minute trip to Rita’s to return both. The line was long, and after waiting a few minutes, I explained that both burritos were wrong but I only needed one replaced since my son decided not to wait and got food elsewhere.
They did quickly make one correct burrito. However, when I asked about a credit or refund for the second one, the employee responded with an irritated look and said that’s why he asked if I wanted two. I didn’t want to make a scene in a full restaurant, so I took the one burrito and left.
I understand that mistakes happen. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, this experience left me very disappointed, especially since I believe the person who helped me was the manager. Because of how this was handled, I won’t be returning.
