Although we live near this restaurant, we had never visited. The closest we had come was to go to the Poppyseed Market, which is closeby in the same shopping center.
There is no outdoor seating. We actually inquired about this, they plan on possibly adding a couple of tables outside in the near future. Anyhow, the inside of the restaurant is nice, but nothing special. We ordered a salmon dish, penne vodka, and insalata gorgonzola. We also got the chocolate cake for dessert, which was delicious. The food was overall good. The service was friendly. We had arrived close to closing time, but they allowed us to stay without hurrying us to finish our dinner. Prices are moderate to high.

The food was delicious. Very noisy. The most ridiculous thing is charging $4 for more bread. Charging 4% for using a credit card is absurd. This is not the way to keep customers. Why doesn’t the owner raise all his entrees 50 cents – and not charge for bread to piss off his customers. No milk! We wanted to order coffee and they had no milk but he’ll charge you $4 for extra bread! They lost the sale for someone that wanted dessert with a nice cup of coffee or cappuccino. They need to go to school and learn how to take care of a customer.
This place is a total joke.

Thought the food would be better based on the prices. Ordered a 10 dollar bottle of mislabeled wine they are charging 56 dollars. Scallops had sand in them. Also you will be charged 4 percent for using a credit card which is only in the receipt, not anywhere in their menus which were printed back in 1986 and still have coffee stains to show for it. Felt like I was robbed for what I paid for.

Awesome meal. We have not been here in a while and wanted to come back and support them. They were busy and short staffed, but it was worth it. We will be back again soon.
We have now been back almost every Tuesday (1/2 bottles of wine) and Nina’s has not disappointed yet. I would suggest to make sure you hear the specials and maybe eat outside your comfort zone and try something new. I have and it is always great.
Update: nothing has changed still a great time.

We have been going to Nina’s for years. But, last night’s lasagna was out of this world. Wish chef made this more often because it’s the best! Highly recommend!

Amber and I finally were able.to connect to celebrate my birthday last night. We were both going to be in Raleigh so I searched Google Maps for restaurants near our location. My favorite food is Italian so decided to give Nina’s a whirl! To start we were trying to set up her phone to take a pic and the bartender, Chris, noticed and came outside to take it. Chris also ended up being our waiter and made us feel right at home. He was amazing! We recognized they are a little short staffed and service would take longer which gave us visiting/talking time. They have a herb garden where the chef (Roberto?) And Chris get fresh herbs for the drinks and dishes We ordered the Eggplant Rolletini and Gorganzolla Salad to share. The entrees were the Diver Scallops and Ravioli with Salmon. Chris brought the best Salted Carmel ice cream (Gelato?) with whipped cream and a candle for my bday. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will most certainly be back!

Wait! Two stars?!? What? That bad? Well yes and no. But BARELY two stars is the overall feeling we left Nina’s with after our experience today. Let me explain. We hadn’t been here in years so we called a couple of weeks ago to make a reservation, which we did. Today three hours before our reservation we got a call from Nina’s telling us that they are overbooked and that we could either eat at the bar for our reserved time or we would have to move our reservation to an hour later than we had scheduled originally with them. Bang. Really? Since we could not move our timing we had to accept the bar seating. Not nice. When we arrived they proceeded to show us to a table in the dining room area which they said they placed there to accommodate our original reservation. But that table was so small that two dinner plates would hardly fit on it and it was placed right by the entrance where everyone coming and going plus the wait staff and the hostess were constantly passing through. Their dining area is rather crammed with tables and offers not all that much ambiance anyway. It is loud because many parties sit close together in one large room. Numerous tables are very small and in confined spaces that won’t make you feel all that comfortable. Looking at the table we we were shown to, we asked to get the bar seating that was announced to us during their call earlier because this table … well, we would rather have left than eat there. There were numerous tables free at the bar but we could not have any of them since they were “reserved” so the bar, bar was the final destination for our meal. Initial service was slow because the entire bar area and the bar service to the other waiters was covered by only one bar keeper. She was great, but she had way too much on her hands. Bread service did come super quick right away, but then it took some time to get water and drinks ordered. We chatted and we ordered … got out appetizers and our food and we ate. Wait time for the food was also okay. The food was very good all around and different than other places, so from that perspective it was a good cahnge, but it is also not better than other places we frequent serving Italian fare. Don’t get me wrong we did enjoy the food and were not disappointed. After the meal we were presented with the bill which automatically added 4% for CC payments. This is one thing where I draw the line. These fees are COMPLETE BS and a lingering fad by restaurants purely for profiteering. No place ever charged this before COVID and prices have gone up too. Nina’s prices are rather in the upper range for comparable places and the servings aren’t so large or exceptional that they need to charge more. We eat out several times a week and most other places with great food don’t charge this fee. It’s a “car dealership practice”. With inflation and these nasty fee practices we can only vote with our pocket book and alert others of such practices. It’s unacceptable. Period. Looking around I think that Nina’s is place that has been around for a long time and is continuing to be successful. Nina’s seem to have a large clientele of “regulars”; well healed, long-time customers that go there all the time so they do not need to worry. They also have more customers than they can handle. I am not knocking the restaurant. It’s a free country and they can do what they want. I am just explaining our rationale as to why it was not a good experience for us and why we won’t be back. To sum it up: This place has good food, a seemingly very large following of regulars and prioritizes their profitability over service and you will feel that. Looking through other reviews here after I wrote this one … we are also not alone.

Called right when they opened for a 6:30 reservation and they had a spot for us. The food was amazing! they started us with complimentary bread/brushetta then our appetizer was stuffed mushrooms (fungi ripieni). I could have just eaten that all day. It was soo good. I ordered a penne con pollo and my dinner companion ordered chicken marsala. Then we finished with tiramisu cake and a chocolate cake. The chicken marsala is off menu and they also have chicken parm off menu too. I have no complaints and know we will be going again.
A couple of things to note:
The restaurant using dim lighting so you may need your phone light to see the menu
It doesn’t say on the menu or anywhere else. If you don’t have cash, there is a 4% surcharge. They circle it on the bill. I did have majority cash for the bill based on a review I saw about it but it wasn’t enough and they still charged me 4%. They really should just hide the surcharge into the food cost and I would not complain.

**Beware**
Unfortunately, they have roaches in the restaurant. Came for a solo date because I was craving their scallop pasta. I sat at the bar and after having a glass of wine, I noticed this sucker coming towards me, only a few inches away from me. I informed my server and left. Will not ever be back. Where there’s ONE there’s MANY. I was highly disgusted.

I visited Nina’s to celebrate my birthday on 5/6/25. It’s been a few years since I visited and was so delighted to find the quality and service is still top-notch. Chris and the staff made it a wonderful night for our table. We enjoyed Nina’s great wine selection (btw, it’s 1/2 price on Tuesday!) and everyone enjoyed their meals, which was a variety of pasta, chicken and seafood dishes.
