We were looking for a place to eat just few days before New Year Eve, and many local Viennese restaurants had long queues. Italian cuisine is one of our favorites, so we decided to walk in here, and we’re very glad we did.
From the moment we arrived, we received a very warm welcome and attentive service, even on such a busy night. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and the red wine paired perfectly with the meal. Everything tasted fresh and comforting.
Even though we didn’t get to try schnitzel on our first night in Vienna, this dinner still felt special and memorable. A lovely experience indeed, highly recommended.

Good service, tagliatelle Bolognese was a good choice if you dont have great expectations. Pasta well cooked – al dente – but veil was overcooked. Starters was a mixed choice of self service buffet mostly veggies. Nothing special. Overall high prices but normal for the spot – city center. No critic for wines and beer as we order only a glass of wine and a glass of a local beer which were decent.

Especially around Christmas, when stress, fatigue, and constant footfall can test even the most seasoned professionals. But what I experienced at Firenze Enoteca yesterday was beyond surprising; it was genuinely shocking.
I was hosting family visiting from Brazil — my mother and my brother — and after walking through the freezing Vienna streets, we stepped into Firenze simply looking for warmth and a light meal. My mother wanted a soup, one guest ordered a Coca‑Cola, another a glass of red wine. The rest of us were content to settle in before ordering more.
The waiter/manager’s reaction was immediate and unmistakably rude. He turned away, muttering “mamma mia” under his breath. When he returned, instead of clarifying or offering assistance, he snapped at us, pointing out that the table next to us had ordered two bottles of water and a bottle of wine, while we had “ordered nothing.” After my brother asked him whether he is the boss, he snapped yes.
Having worked globally and with deep familiarity with Italian hospitality — my sister has lived in Italy for over 30 years, and I’ve visited countless times — I have never encountered behaviour like this. Italian attitude can be spirited, yes, but never hostile to guests simply because they haven’t ordered fast enough or ordered “enough.”
To be clear: the food was excellent. But the service was an absolute disgrace, especially for a venue that presents itself as refined and noble. Hospitality is, at its core, about being hospitable. After everything this industry has endured post‑Covid, it is disheartening to see professionals who seem to resent the very guests who keep their doors open.
Firenze Enoteca sits on a busy street and will likely continue to attract footfall. But no restaurant benefits from the stain of service like this — and no guest deserves to be treated as an inconvenience the moment they walk in.

My wife and I just had one night in Vienna before returning to North America and we stayed near St. Michael’s in older Vienna. Walking around downtown, we were attracted to the Firenze Enoteca by its decor and wonderful menu. We were not disappointed.
We started by sharing a prosciutto and melon and then my wife had the seafood tagliatelle and I had the veal cutlets in lemon. Both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The service was well-timed, friendly and the restaurant also had pleasant live music. This is one of the better Italian restaurants we have ever eaten at and one I would recommend with six stars. I say that unreservedly, even though we are from Montreal with a large Italian community and a wealth of really good Italian restaurants. If you’re in Vienna, the Firenze Enoteca is not to be missed.
