My husband and I visited Abruzzi for the first time during Charleston’s Restaurant Week. After looking through the participating menus, Abruzzi stood out as the most interesting choice, and it did not disappoint. We both ordered the braised short rib raviolo, the rainbow trout with lemon dill linguine and asparagus, and the chocolate olive oil cake. Every dish was beautifully seasoned with deep, rich flavors. We were truly impressed and will absolutely be returning.

We attended a 12 person Birthday party & they had our table ready swiftly. The motif is industrial and is located within our local baseball park for the Dirty Birds. Our server was super accommodating & never allowed a glass to go empty! We were all in from out of town so the impression was impeccable! The Chef has been nominated for the James Beard Award & his cuisine matches! We all had everything different and it all came out hot & delicious! This amazing restaurant is right off of the interstate so you can dine & get right back on the road! Charleston Area Medical Center is right across the street from them as well! Wonderful selection of wine & spirits! Definitely worth a try & it’s locally ran and operated! The Bread is locally made as well! Large dining room and patio area! Perfect for any size party! Great for fundraisers and more! We all look forward to coming back! Right in the heart of town near the Clay Center as well! Gasoline is a few blocks away!

Amazing restaurant, very calm, quiet and staff weren’t available cute very professional.
Decoration of the restaurant is very simple. And many tables were available.
Food is extremely tasty (I would like to have a bigger portion) but it is fine and nice.
I had Alfredo with Shrimp. Sea Bass, and many other meals (I will post them all)

We had a simply great meal. Nancy, our server, was very attentive and welcoming. Chicken vegetable soup was hearty and substantive. Our entrees were tasty, portions were appropriate for the evening meal. The pecan crusted halibut with white beans and kale was tasty as was the glazed salmon with sweet potato gnocchi and asparagus. We will be back!

My mother-in-law and I both had our first visit here this evening. We loved the food and the featuring of local places here (Charleston Bread and Ellen’s Ice Cream). We tried the meatball appetizer, chicken Alfredo, chicken parm, & apple crisp. We noticed room for improvements in the
Ambiance and way the staff operated. Will go back for sure!

It was our first time visiting the restaurant during the Restaurant Week. We sat at the bar area and had wonderful service. The atmosphere was alright. The food was 50 / 50 interesting. The mushroom ball appetizer was big enough to split for two and great tasting. The short-rib ravioli was really rich and the better entree. The trout with risotto was pretty bland. So was the strawberry cobbler. On the other hand, the chocolate panna cotta was superb.

I placed an order here because I had a taste for risotto. When I arrive to pick up my order, I was told to go to the bar to pick it up and pay. My meal was sitting in the middle of a table with cleaning supplies and cleaning rags and left over food surrounded it. My meal totaled $47 and I do not want to eat it. I don’t feel comfortable. I feel as though there was a reason for me to witness the placement of my meal on that table. The man that took my payment was very dry and said have a nice day to me like he was reading off a script – it was borderline sarcastic.

Italian food. Tasty. Parking across the street or behind. Very knowledgeable waitress that were perfect in their service. We had lasagna (a little dry…ask for extra sauce. And, eggplant parmesan with fresh homemade pasta (spaghetti). Eggplant too thick. Spaghetti very good.
12/27/2023: I just found out that this restaurant changed hands approximately one year ago and that the menu has changed to include pasta, plus meat and fish dishes. Everything is made fresh, including the desserts, and the staff are all culinary trained. It’s time to give it another try. Is this that local hidden gem that we’ve been seeking? We’re going to try it and let you know!

We went to try this restaurant again since it changed hands a year ago. We got seated in “the last table available” first two. Funny, there were numerous tables that were available, and even more by the time we finished a nice dinner.
Nancy waited our table. She provided goid, attentive service, and made good recommendations. We tried the brie appetizer, which was super delicious! We also tried the meatball appetizer. It was good. The bread with the seasoned oil was good and fresh. We doctored it because it wasn’t anything but oil and grated cheese. It was good then. Entre’s were the mushroom pasta. That was very good. The Missus had the crab cakes. They tasted and looked like they had salmon in them. She said they were just ok and ate only 3/4 of one.
We brought the rest of the meal home to eat later…?
There are many other dishes available and I’m sure they’re good, according to other reviews.
I would recommend that you try this restaurant yourself. It’s good.

Ristorante Abruzzi is one of our new favorite locations in Charleston. The have an awesome seasonal menu that has great selections. We have eaten there about 4 times now, and every time it’s been amazing. They have a great selection of soup and interesting dishes. You can tell they put thought into their food, and use amazing ingredients which makes a huge difference in quality. Couldn’t recommend more!

First visit here. Started with the Italian Antipasto plate. It was filled with cheeses, meats, jam, grapes, crackers and bread. For the main dish I ordered the Frutti di Mare. This had mussels, clams, shrimp, with pasta in a spicy tomato broda. Loved all of the food. Service was excellent!
