Imma day late on this but, you know?!? I saw this place on Bay Area Check Please. The pizza that was shown is what cause my attention . Ish looked HELLA good. Plus, I never had wood fire pizza. The lady an I came here to eat on 11/11/25 at bout 12/1230p. It wasn’t too busy. Was pretty good crowd. Had bout a <10min wait. Not bad. We had the wood fire buffalo wings and the wood fire Brussels sprouts to start. Both were dope. Seasoned very well. I had the Carne pizza(which was the all meat) with extra cheese. Nice and meaty. My lady had the vegetarian pizza(nah! I ain’t try that). She loved it. The dough was cool. I’d say it was priced well. My personal gripe and why I only gave four stars was they don’t have a soda fountain for refills. Food is nice. I mos def will be back. Thanks to Bay Area Check Please.

Delicious pizza, good portion sizes, great atmosphere, and well staffed. Only can be loud sometimes due to the train. Usually easy parking.
I love the mushroom pizza with honey and chicken parm.

Very noisy. We were seated in a separate area from the main dining room, and even with a small dining crowd, it was loud. Food was OK, but nothing special. One couple ordered a pizza to split, and my wife and I got our food and had it almost eaten before their pizza arrived. Server came and explained that their pizza had to be remade as the first one burned. Server was preoccupied. We had planned to get dessert, but eventually walked up to the cashier area and paid. Our server was chatting in the hall. Menu looked great, but we won’t return.

Everything I ordered was delicious (see photos). I am a pizza snob and this pizza did not disappoint! My only issue is I sat at the bar and there was only one bar tender and it was pure chaos for her. She handled the crowd extremely well. I recommend they have two bar tenders during busy hours like the Friday night dinner rush. If you are looking for a solid menu with different options outside of pizza, I recommend giving this place a try.

The unique setting restaurant, situated in the heart of downtown San Mateo, has garnered a reputation for its exceptional pizza offerings. In addition to their renowned prime rib and Mediterranean Sea bass, the restaurant also provides a delightful selection of two sides for the prime rib meal, with a mandatory inclusion of Caesar salad. The Caesar salad is widely regarded as one of the finest in the region. The restaurant’s extensive wine and cocktail list further enhances the dining experience.

A very nice pizza and grill restaurant right next to the San Mateo Caltrain station. The pizzas were good, very filling. We tried the pesto shrimp and spicy sausage with honey pizzas, recommended by our waitress. Both were delicious, especially the spicy sausage one with honey, quite an ingenious combination. The pizza crust was thin but chewy, similar to the Neapolitan style. Service was friendly. Price was reasonable.

Family had a lot of time before having to take a flight out of SFO, so did a quick search for local restaurants and decided to try Rise. It’s a short drive from the airport and there’s a fair amount of parking available. The reviews were excellent and the pictures looked great, so we were really looking forward to a good meal before a long flight.
Rise is located next to the train tracks and looks like it may have been part of a station or something before. But the decor is great and having trains come by just adds to the experience.
Rise did not disappoint at all! We ordered a superfood bowl with chicken, a mushroom pizza, and the roasted branzino (fish). The branzino was excellent, well cooked and seasoned and came with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus, both of which I’d recommend. The superfood bowl was good but outclassed by the other dishes. It was definitely tasty and healthy. The standout for me was the mushroom pizza. I wasn’t actually in the mood for pizza, and I don’t just order mushrooms as a topping, but this was my wife’s choice and I ended up having about half of it because it was so good.
We wrapped everything up with their delicious cheescake with crushed cherry topping. Our server, Ameer, was fantastic and gave us some great recommendations. Highly recommend!

This location was recommended to me, yup by yelp. We ordered: Pitman Family farm local chicken half with Mac & Cheese and Sweet potatoes as their sides, BBQ Beef Back Ribs and Margherita Pizza. It was a lot of food for 3 of us. Everything was so good and tender. I don’t normally like Mac & cheese but theirs was so good. For drinks: Wood fire margarita, peacock Daisy and the mule train. The woodfire margarita is not your normal margarita. It taste Smokey and spicy. Tallarin on the rim. I liked the mule train better. For dessert to share: Banana Cream Pie. That was yummy too. We would definitely come back but order less. 🙂

Unique modern atmosphere. A delicious menu choice with variety. We had the woodfired Margherita pizza. It was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and had good vibes. The service was wonderful, and would highly recommend this. The next time you are in San Mateo, and are craving Pizza.

The food here was really flavorful and I love that they offer both rotisserie chicken and pizzas. The restaurant does both well. The rib and rotisserie chicken plate is massive, enough to feed 2 diners. The fries were really tasty, and the interior has a comfortable and chic vibe, and you can watch the trains go by as you eat. Reservations aren’t strictly necessary.
My husband and I will definitely return.
