I love donuts and we were are traveling somewhere, I always look to see if there is a local place to try. Rise has a 4.8 on Google so I was psyched and ready to have an amazing experience. The place is tiny and tucked out of the way in the little Wilton center with a sign on the building that blends in so much that it’s very difficult to see. I walked in and the place was cute and not too crowded. There are no menus or signage anywhere, but rather a hand written sign on the counter with the days donut flavors written on it. This was my first time there and I assume she could tell that, but offered no help in figuring out the flavors, the prices, etc. I would have gladly accepted the help. The donuts are pricey at $4+ each. I did not know that and ordered way too many. The best item we ordered was the Misfit. It was soft, pillowy, and flavorful. The donuts are meh. They are not donuts to me and I don’t understand why there is so much hype around them. They are more like a sweet bread texture than a donut. They are dense and bread-like and you really only need two bites. We gave the rest of them away. They don’t serve any other breakfast food so only go here if you want overpriced, overhyped, subpar donuts. FYI, the don’t serve coffee, only espresso based drinks. So, I ordered a decaf americano which tasted great, but I don’t think it was decaf. I don’t want to trash this place and I don’t think I did with this review but it’s not worth the time or money. We went back one more time to be fair and that was the last time for us. Neil’s Donuts are still the best in CT IMO.

Without a doubt, the best apple fritter I’ve ever had. It’s moist, has big chunks of apple, is well fried, has plenty of glaze, etc. I would highly recommend getting a couple. The other donuts are fine, but the fritter is the star. If you’re within a reasonable distance or a fritter fan then it’s worth the drive. The prices are on the higher side, but I happily would pay for that fritter again without blinking an eye. The service is quick and polite. The whole store is on the small side, so don’t be surprised if it gets crowded quickly. Parking is limited out front, but there’s a lot next door if needed. Check it out!

I drove 45 minutes to Rise Doughnuts after seeing them featured on a local Instagram page—I had to try their infamous Apple Fritters! They weren’t on the menu today, but I was still able to get some truly unique “sourdough” donuts to nosh on!
Starting first with the atmosphere, the building is small and has a few parking spots directly outside the entrance. There’s a small shared lot to the left, so parking was a breeze.
Inside, the shop was PACKED, with a line wrapped around the restaurant. Seating is minimal with what seemed like one communal table. I loved getting a peek at the donuts being made and the display counter was easily visible.
While the donuts looked delectable, I would have liked the donuts to be labeled, as opposed to just a menu with the names. I also didn’t like that the coffee menu wasn’t posted—there was only a small leaflet in front of the register. The staff was also nice when ordering, but nobody acknowledged me at the register. I paid and was on my way.
Anyhow, I ordered the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt and the Blackberry Orange Doughnuts. They were warm, fresh, and just under $10 for 2.
I appreciated being able to see the menu on Instagram before coming in. Next time I’ll stop in earlier as I wish there were more “filled” donut options.
Taste wise, I loved the density of these donuts! The Dark Chocolate had a beautiful undertone of the sea salt, which almost tasted like it was cooked into the dough. The Blackberry is great sweeter option, but I felt the orange taste was lacking.
While these aren’t the “best” donuts I’ve ever had, I can appreciate the texture and quality of each donut. I’m willing to make the hike again to try some different flavors!

Outstanding donuts—some of the best I’ve had.
FOOD
The donuts are exceptional. We visited on a Saturday about an hour before closing, and they were still turning out fresh, warm donuts—an absolute game changer. Served warm and freshly glazed, the texture and flavor really shine. We tried the brown butter vanilla bean, chocolate with sea salt, banana foster, and Aztec cinnamon. The brown butter vanilla bean stood out as the clear favorite, though all were well executed; the cinnamon was the least compelling of the group but still enjoyable.
AMBIANCE & SERVICE
A charming, cozy space with seating and a warm, inviting atmosphere. You can watch the donuts being made in the back, which adds to the experience as they come out freshly glazed. Despite a long line and steady crowds, the staff remained friendly, welcoming, and helpful in walking us through the flavors and menu.
OVERALL
Highly recommended—and absolutely worth a return visit.

One-hundred-percent as good as people say it is – fluffy, fresh, warm, nonstop delicious doughnuts that are the best around in CT and Westchester and likely NYC. Love the chocolate buttercream the most with chocolate crumble on top, delicious vanilla bean too, but really every doughnut is top-notch and creative, and their daily new menu of flavors makes this spot irresistible.
5 stars!!!!

The nurse I had in Norwalk hospital recently told me that these were the best donuts he’s ever had in his life so I had to give it a try so I drove down from Ridgefield and he was not lying. The customer service was excellent. The latte was solid and the donuts were fantastic. I was pretty sick of apple fritters because I usually get them at Dunkin’ Donuts or Stewart’s gas station but I figured let me give it a try because they only make them a couple days a week and everyone on here is raving about them and they really were phenomenal! I also had the brown butter vanilla and that was super good as well. They are light and fluffy. The flavors are great and you can tell they don’t skimp on quality ingredients. I really don’t know how they could possibly be this much better than other places’ donuts but they really are. And this includes my extensive travels internationally.

These are by far the best doughnuts I have ever had and I suspect they are among the best in the world. They are always fresh out of the fryer, warm, soft and incredibly light and airy. They have a rotating selection of 6 daily flavors. I usually get one of each because each one is delightful. What prompted me to write a review after many happy visits was an incredible act of kindness that I experienced today. I saw they had a special flavor today only and drove to try it this morning. I was disappointed to find out that I had missed the last one by 10 minutes and grumbled my frustration to the cashier. One of the cooks overheard and offered me one that she had set aside for herself. Suffice to say she made my day. Both the service and food at Rise are world class.

Truly, the best donut I’ve ever had. My spouse and I both both ordered a peach fritter. It was still warm and sooooo delicious. I wish I could eat one everyday. There was a limit of two per customer, and I understand why! The drip coffee was also delicious. The shop is also super cute.
