Traveled to Buffalo from out of town & when I overslept & missed hotel’s breakfast, it turned into the happiest accident I ever could have hoped for.

Found Risa’s on quick google search , walked over from the Aloft & thought I was in the wrong spot – no, Risas is inside the building.

The absolute BEST matzoh ball soup I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying in my entire life. So flavorful, authentic, especially because Risa was quite literally making her handmade Matzoh Balls when we walked in. Friendly service & cozy atmosphere. Loved it so much we came back day 2 & took a cup for the road & a bowl to keep in the fridge for the weekend.

Thank you Risa for the most warming bowl of soup that was clearly made with lots of love.
Sincerely,
Someone far from home who really needed a hug in a bowl.

The matzo ball soup is like a big warm hug and can probably cure most diseases. About as authentic as you can get in Buffalo.

I have lived in Buffalo since 2008, after having moved here from the lower east side of New York City.
I only recently discovered Risa’s after searching for authentic Jewish Delis in Buffalo, which are almost non-existent.
I stopped by Risa’s this morning for a lox and cream cheese bagel, and was not disappointed.
I was fortunate enough to meet Risa, the friendly and engaging owner, and daughter of the founder.
The offerings are varied, and the deli is clean, bright and inviting.
Can’t wait to go back and try some of Risa’s other specialtes!

Our office stumbled across Risa’s while searching another restaurant in the area. The next day we ordered lunch. All of us loved our soup, sandwiches, and wraps! I mentioned to Risa that this was our first time ordering from her and she called later in the afternoon to ask how we all enjoyed our meals. I told her we for sure will be ordering from her again!

Was looking for a good pastrami sandwich, searched the area. This place came up so I went and got a lunch special w soup. The reviews said this sandwich was great. To me this was the worst cheap pastrami I’ve ever tasted. Soup wasn’t bad, will never go back.

Risas is a great little Jewish soup & sandwich soup located in the back side of 285 Delaware. It’s easy to miss as there are no signs from the front, but it’s been there forever. They have a great selection of soup and sandwiches, with matzo ball soup and sweet & south cabbage soup being standouts. Their pastrami sandwich is also thinly sliced & fresh.

Incredible potato salad. One of the best I’ve ever eaten.

The sandwiches are phenomenal. I’ve eaten a little of everything there from PB&J to a couple of the specialties.

Most importantly, the folks there are incredibly kind. 10/10 will continue to have them provide routine sustenance for me.

I have been on the hunt for a good pastrami sandwich in buffalo for what feels like, and haven’t had much luck finding a that had one, let alone a good one. Risa’s has knocked that craving out of the park.

I had lunch combo, a bowl of matzo ball soup and the half a pastrami sandwich. I would be hard pressed to find a better, more stratifying lunch deal for as good of a price pretty much anywhere. I cannot recommend it as a lunch spot highly enough. Classics done simple and done right.

I also tried the lemon bar and the peanut butter bar. The lemon bar is perfectly serviceable, I have no complaints even if it’s nothing special. That peanut butter bar thought? Man that thing was so so good. Huge and rich too, I’m glad I was splitting it.

My friend and I were making plans to come back and what we would try next before we even finished eating. I wish i’d taken a picture but it was so good I was halfway finished before I even thought about it.

Literally best soup and sandwich combo I’ve ever had. Literally needed a second bowl of the matzo ball soup. Could give this spot 100 stars

Such a gem of a deli with warm, welcoming service—often from Risa herself, which makes it feel extra special. I usually go for the amazing lox bagels, but honestly, there are so many tasty options on the menu.

It’s always worth popping in when you’re nearby.
