Horrible! I hope management contacts me because I’d love our money back, no Salmon, no scallops, no burger, no chicken tenders, no beer!!! 2 sections, no sake, like what!?!?! We came a year ago and it was pretty good but really? For Christmas Eve this place is not worth the money. The fish tank is dirty! I mean really!?!? Please do better please offer customers what they expect

We visited Riptide on Saturday, February 7, 2026 with a reservation at 6:30 p.m. for a party of 12. We were celebrating both a birthday and an engagement, but the experience was extremely disappointing.
We waited for hours at the front of the restaurant before being seated. Once seated, the hostess informed us that there was no teriyaki steak or prime rib available—something that should have been communicated much earlier. After that, we waited over two and a half hours for a chef to arrive.
When the chef finally came, he immediately displayed a rude attitude. He stared at my son and asked, “What happened?” When my son explained we had been waiting for over two and a half hours, the chef responded, “We are busy.” His behavior only got worse from there. He was cooking with clear hostility and began throwing rice—not in a playful or entertaining way, but aggressively. He threw rice that hit one of our family members on the neck and did not apologize or acknowledge it. He also made an inappropriate comment to another family member, saying she reminded him of his ex.
I went to the reception desk and spoke to a young, tall employee, asking if the chef could please change his attitude or be replaced. After speaking with the chef, nothing improved—he continued to be rude for the rest of the service.
We used to love this place, but the service has gone downhill badly. We spent over $670, and the experience was absolutely not worth it. We will not be returning. I sincerely hope management sees this review and takes it seriously. Money doesn’t grow on trees, we wanted to pay for a good, fun experience and this restaurant was a bad choice.

We’ve been eating here for the last 15 years. We used to really like it. Over the last 3 years or so it’s just gone downhill. The food is still pretty good, but the service is terrible. It is 100% due to poor management. I have plenty of reasons why this is so, including last night – had a reservation at 6pm Checked in on time for a special occasion. We waited over 1 hr 30 mins often being told… just a few minutes. After 1 hr 30 mins the head waiter told us we better just leave, they would not have a table for us. Unfortunately there is no way my wife and kids will ever want to go here again.

That’s your value place for sushi rolls. I tried teppanyaki there too- it was great. But sushi rolls is what i go for. They are large size and very tasty! Also on the days like holidays when everyone else has a long wait, I can get seated here in the booth pretty fast, because the place is huge.

We visited this place about 5 years ago, and we enjoyed the teppanyaki table very much along with the food and service. As a result, we decided to visit again in November for a relatives birthday and were very disappointed.

To begin with, when reserving the table there was a misunderstanding and we were not seated at the teppanyaki table as we wanted and were seated at a regular booth. The issue was that there was about 12 people in our party and we barely fit at the table even with additional chairs placed on the sides.

The rest of the night kept getting worse and worse, from attitude from our waitress to mediocre food, it didn’t seem like the same place we visited before at all. Our cutlery was dirty when it arrived and when we asked for replacements the waitress hesitantly took the dirty forks and finally returned around 10 minutes later only to have grabbed the forks from the empty table beside us. Also, despite it being a Saturday evening, the restaurant was not as busy but the waiters took forever to serve us and provide us with our food and many of the fish were unavailable impacting the number of sushi choices you could pick from or any of the lobster rolls. Just seemed a but odd to make half of your menu unavailable on a weekend night when your primary cuisine is seafood.

I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for special occasions, maybe for an occasional outing but I wouldn’t bet on them having all their sushi options or even good service.

I have never had a bad experience with this place until last night. I placed an order the new Yorker which comes with chicken, steak and shrimp. There was zero chicken in the plate . I also have an onion allergy and specifically told them no onions however the cook still used onions I could even eat a 50$ plate. I called and was told a manager was going to call me back in an hour. I received no call or refund for my messed up meal. I took pictures of the plate so the can see it. The guy who took my order I think his name was Logan even told me there was a new cook tonight and told them no onion. I come here all the time but the service for something like this happening is not acceptable. Im out $50 dollar on a meal they messed up and couldn’t even eat.

I only tend to write reviews when its worth the trouble but this was one of the worst hibachi restaurants I’ve been to in years.

We were told it would be a 40 minute wait (which was fine) but when we came back after an hour of no calls to check, they told us “oh we forgot”. They then proceeded to give us seats between two of the grills, where there was no view of either grill and only able to see the backs of the cooks. (I tried to include a picture but its a little warped from the panorama mode)

The waitress came out and immediately told us “I’m going to be honest, the faster we get your orders in the faster the chef will get here” and then despite us all ordering quickly and a bit rushed to try and accommodate, we waited 90 MINUTES for the chef to come. Of the other 4 full tables around us, only one had a cook at it in the entire time.

The guy we got was messy, throwing rice everywhere and made no commentary or jokes for the entire time he cooked. At the end when someone asked for the onion volcano (her favorite part that he also had forgotten), he quickly tried to make one, pulling out the wrong liquid three times, making a horrible screech with the spatula (nails on chalkboards not the whistle sound it was meant to sound like apparently) and then gave her the whole raw onion from it after on her plate with no seasoning or anything. The food was bland, with the rice burnt in places, and the veggies undercooked, even raw.

Their prices, while transparent, were also extremely high. 40 was on the higher end to start but to add 3 little shrimp to our meals (not the 5 listed) was 16 dollars EACH.
This was literally one of the worst experiences I’ve had and it was laughably awful. We only went to this place because it was conveniently close. Never again.

This Place has definitely gone down hill! The past 3 times we have been they are always out of stuff! Few nights ago they were out of Coors light, soy paper, no root beer no Dr Pepper and out of shrimp, filet mignon and some other stuff! Service was not great we waited a while until someone showed up, atmosphere is mehhhh and bathrooms aren’t as clean as they should be! Won’t be returning anytime soon sadly! And seriously fix the escalators already!

This place used to be the place to go. The food was overly salty, had the surf and turf. Sushi was very good, same with salad and soup. They did not have any Japanese beers and the area over by the booths was dirty. Had a bucket of soy sauce with a dirty rag and a nail polish Remover bottle in the booth, it’s very tired along with the center itself. I’m super sad about this because it used to be one of my absolute favorite places to go.

This is my favorite spot for sushi in SoCal! Rigo plates the rolls so beautifully. The sushi is always fresh and tasty! I’ve never been disappointed with any of the rolls. Rigo has the best recommendations. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a roll or two!
