Reviews
We waited for hours at the front of the restaurant before being seated. Once seated, the hostess informed us that there was no teriyaki steak or prime rib available—something that should have been communicated much earlier. After that, we waited over two and a half hours for a chef to arrive.
When the chef finally came, he immediately displayed a rude attitude. He stared at my son and asked, “What happened?” When my son explained we had been waiting for over two and a half hours, the chef responded, “We are busy.” His behavior only got worse from there. He was cooking with clear hostility and began throwing rice—not in a playful or entertaining way, but aggressively. He threw rice that hit one of our family members on the neck and did not apologize or acknowledge it. He also made an inappropriate comment to another family member, saying she reminded him of his ex.
I went to the reception desk and spoke to a young, tall employee, asking if the chef could please change his attitude or be replaced. After speaking with the chef, nothing improved—he continued to be rude for the rest of the service.
We used to love this place, but the service has gone downhill badly. We spent over $670, and the experience was absolutely not worth it. We will not be returning. I sincerely hope management sees this review and takes it seriously. Money doesn’t grow on trees, we wanted to pay for a good, fun experience and this restaurant was a bad choice.
To begin with, when reserving the table there was a misunderstanding and we were not seated at the teppanyaki table as we wanted and were seated at a regular booth. The issue was that there was about 12 people in our party and we barely fit at the table even with additional chairs placed on the sides.
The rest of the night kept getting worse and worse, from attitude from our waitress to mediocre food, it didn’t seem like the same place we visited before at all. Our cutlery was dirty when it arrived and when we asked for replacements the waitress hesitantly took the dirty forks and finally returned around 10 minutes later only to have grabbed the forks from the empty table beside us. Also, despite it being a Saturday evening, the restaurant was not as busy but the waiters took forever to serve us and provide us with our food and many of the fish were unavailable impacting the number of sushi choices you could pick from or any of the lobster rolls. Just seemed a but odd to make half of your menu unavailable on a weekend night when your primary cuisine is seafood.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for special occasions, maybe for an occasional outing but I wouldn’t bet on them having all their sushi options or even good service.
We were told it would be a 40 minute wait (which was fine) but when we came back after an hour of no calls to check, they told us “oh we forgot”. They then proceeded to give us seats between two of the grills, where there was no view of either grill and only able to see the backs of the cooks. (I tried to include a picture but its a little warped from the panorama mode)
The waitress came out and immediately told us “I’m going to be honest, the faster we get your orders in the faster the chef will get here” and then despite us all ordering quickly and a bit rushed to try and accommodate, we waited 90 MINUTES for the chef to come. Of the other 4 full tables around us, only one had a cook at it in the entire time.
The guy we got was messy, throwing rice everywhere and made no commentary or jokes for the entire time he cooked. At the end when someone asked for the onion volcano (her favorite part that he also had forgotten), he quickly tried to make one, pulling out the wrong liquid three times, making a horrible screech with the spatula (nails on chalkboards not the whistle sound it was meant to sound like apparently) and then gave her the whole raw onion from it after on her plate with no seasoning or anything. The food was bland, with the rice burnt in places, and the veggies undercooked, even raw.
Their prices, while transparent, were also extremely high. 40 was on the higher end to start but to add 3 little shrimp to our meals (not the 5 listed) was 16 dollars EACH.
This was literally one of the worst experiences I’ve had and it was laughably awful. We only went to this place because it was conveniently close. Never again.
