Great Fried Chicken…The best I have had in a long time. Crispy golden brown skin and tender moist meat. Be prepared to wait so get there early. If you buy a drink at the bar it does not transfer over to your table.

Rips Tavern was recommended to us and we were overall unsatisfied. Our bartender was great and was sociable and friendly, but the food: meh. Onion rings were cold and we are fairly certain our order was forgotten. We came in around 7:30p, they close at 9p. It was 8:20p, we were the last ones to get our food and it wasn’t out yet. My friend walked to the kitchen for an update and the staff were cleaning up, not cooking. They tried to schmooze it over with, oh it’s coming right up, but we waiting about 10 more minutes. The chicken was big portions but very greasy, more so than expected with deep frying. Meat was juicy and but lacked flavor. Pretty underwhelming.

Tried to go there for dinner. Since we moved nearby we have heard and read a lot about it. Very slow, maybe a dozen people in restaurant at 6:30. We have never been there. Nobody greeted us or spoke to us until we asked if we just sat ourselves. We were told we order first before we sit down. It wasn’t clear where to order. We didn’t know menu so they let us sit, since it was so slow. We had a long day of hiking, sight seeing, etc…so we took turns going to bathroom but my children were hangry so I went up to order their dinner and some apps while adults had time to figure out their food and settle in. I was told the whole table had to order at once and was not allowed to order. What? We left.

Nostalgia overrides Quality. Went there to celebrate getting my house. I don’t understand the hype. It’s just greasy chicken. Probably the worst I’ve had in the area. If you think this is good chicken you need to visit restaurants outside your normal portfolio.

Very reasonable beer prices. Be prepared to clean the bottoms of your shoes when you get home. Very accommodating for my mother in law’s 90th birthday bash.
