Our journey started more than thirty years ago working for our family owned Italian American Restaurant and later opening our own location in Modesto. We purchased Red Tavern in 2013 and we continue to operate it as well. The thought of Rione began a few years ago while vacationing in Rome. Since our first trip we have returned several times to take classes, experience the culture, share time with friends and family, and to bring back menu items sometimes never seen in the United States. Staples such as Carbanara, Cacio e Pepe, Pasta Gricia, Amatriciana, Suppli, and Pizza Tonda are a few menu items born in Rome, often changed, and our intent is to prepare them as you would experience when visiting Rome in their most traditional form.

Also tried bruschetta with peaches and that was decent. Not superb sweet. Cheese was fresh. Not a fan though.
Tiramisu was small portion but tasty. Not overly sweet and not overly coffee flavored too. Very decent.
Everything was nice. Portions were good but comparatively small for the price. Good for one only.
I once again had a great meal. How ever, i didn’t care for the Rosetto, our server offered to get me something else. The customer service is exceptional. And the rest of the meal was delicious
My husband and I celebrated our 28th anniversary . We had a wonderful dining experience . Our server was friendly and on top of anything we may need. I really enjoyed the fancyness 🙂 of the experience. The sever told us this is authentic Italian food, and she explained how the carbanara was cooked. My husband had the Filet Mignon. Of course, I had to taste it, delicious.
The atmosphere was just okay for me (about a 5/10). One wall is entirely glass which I loved, but creates a noticeable draft, so definitely dress warm if you’re visiting on a cooler evening.
The menu felt more limited (6/10), and the flavors could use a bit more balance overall. One thing to note: the restaurant uses farm-raised fish rather than wild, so order with that in mind if it matters to you. (For those unaware they are much less healthy – more exposure to PFAS, plastics, and their omega ratios actually become flipped and less healthy)
On a positive note, if you’re gluten-free, their pasta is actually quite good — just consider asking for it to be cooked slightly longer, as their version of al dente leans on the chewier side.
Overall, some solid elements and a very kind staff, but a few adjustments could make the experience much stronger.
Our service was not too much but not too little. My party would give 5 stars however the reason I didn’t is because our server ignored me when I was trying to place my drink order and then again when I tried to get her attention for service. I’m sure her mind was full of work-related stuff and do not hold it against her. It was a very busy night after all. The owner also came to check on things at our table which was a delight.
The atmosphere was not too favorable. The restaurant was way too loud. We were having to yell at each other to have a conversation with each other. I could never bring a sensory-sensitive person to this establishment and sit inside. There is outdoor seating, which may be ideal, and I will reserve a table there to see how it goes. The restroom was clean and the establishment was well-decorated, well-lit, and very clean. Minus the noise, Rhone Italian Restaurant is as perfect as it can be and not be a dream. I will recommend it to everyone and update my review after sitting outside and experiencing the atmosphere. Well done, Rione. Ciao!
