I had a great experience at this cozy sushi spot while visiting friends in the Metuchen, NJ area. We tried the Fuji Roll, Green Dragon Roll, Samba Roll, and fried rice, and everything was fresh, and soooo flavorful! The service, provided by who appeared to be the owner, was warm and attentive, and the music playlist added to the relaxed, welcoming vibe. I can see it being an excellent place for get-togethers, and I’d definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Came for the first time during Valentine’s Day and I couldn’t have been happier. My fiancé, her parents and I truly enjoyed their fixed menu. Their prices were fair and the atmosphere was decorated elegantly and beautifully without over doing it. We wanted to lick our plates starting from the appetizer, main course, Sushi made by Leonel were marvelous and deserts were splendid. The wait was reasonable, it is also BYOB, it was a great plus! The waiter Christopher was very attentive and nice! Love this place!! Thank you for having us! We have a new favorite Japanese spot!

My fiance and I love sushi so we decided to check out this spot out and it was incredible. The best sushi we’ve had in a while. The fish and rolls tasted fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. Even the mango mochi was delish! Definitely coming back for our next date night to explore more of the menu.

Unacceptable Service and Subpar Food: An Empty Friday Night Tells the Story!!

I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews, but I have a solemn duty to warn the public: AVOID THIS PLACE! We had the misfortune of visiting this small, deceptively “elegant” restaurant, hoping for a culinary experience after being blown away by the rice at an authentic Japanese place out of state. Instead, we found a confused, overpriced disaster.
Trying to take a chance off the beaten path was a colossal mistake. Our server, bless their heart, let slip that this place is some kind of ridiculous fusion of cuisines—Japanese influence with Spanish roots. A warning sign we should have heeded!
We foolishly made reservations, assuming a small Metuchen spot would be packed at 6:30 PM on a Friday. Were we met with a lively, celebratory crowd? No! We were greeted by an EMPTY dining room—a ghost town! The server was friendly enough, answering all our questions while my wife and I waited for our daughters, savoring the only good thing that touched our table: a decent aperitif.
But then, the absolute collapse of service began! They didn’t just drop the ball; they spiked it into the dirt and walked away. We waited a torturous 45 minutes for our food, only for it to arrive staggered like a pathetic parade! A full 15-minute gap between the first and last plate—an entire hour to get our mediocre meal!
And the food itself? Subpar is generous! The so-called Japanese rice was utterly bland—a tasteless insult! We had to drown it in soy sauce just to introduce the faintest hint of flavor!
Then came the final, infuriating blow: the check. A party of four at this forgettable, empty, and poorly run establishment cost us almost $300! Three hundred dollars for a meal that tasted like despair and took an eternity to serve! The fact that only five tables were occupied the whole night speaks volumes.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! This bland, disorganized, and ridiculously overpriced restaurant should be avoided at all costs. Go to Hatch 44 instead! They actually know how to run a kitchen!

It’s ok. Not the best, not the worst. I ordered the Fuji Roll, Shrimp Tampora, Spicy Tuna, and Mr F Roll. I felt like the rolls have too much rice. The Fuji Roll comes with smoked Salmon but it had a burnt taste rather than smoked. I also ordered Chicken Tampora and Yuca Fries as an appetizer. The Chicken came with 5 small pieces of chicken and a lot more veggies than meat. I felt like the food had a Latin twist.. as though I would find this Japanese restaurant in Latin America. The service on the other hand, was good. Add two drinks and Total cost came to <$70 (without tip).

Charming little place on Central. They just added Italian, yes, Italian dishes to their menu. Creative idea for a sushi joint. Cozy atmosphere, warm, welcoming staff, with something on the menu for everyone! BYOB and come visit this cool restaurant!

I ordered a trio sushi lunch special and not only was it delicious, it was beautifully presented! The shrimp, tuna, and sweet potato rolls were filled with flavor. My server was very courteous and accommodating. I can see that there is a definite attention to detail from the decor to the food. I would definitely come back again.

This is an adorable spot with tasty food. We’ve ordered sushi rolls and hibachi. Both have been delicious. The spicy tuna and sweet potato rolls are great. The beef hibachi is amazing. The meat is tender and melts in your mouth. The rice is so buttery and the veggies it is served make your mouth water. The prices are decent and the service is good. Everyone is very attentive. They also offer a variety of dishes. They have marking bumping the front but not many spots.
