Service less than expected but overall not bad. Had to flag down waiter to order a 2nd round and he brought the check before we were even close to finished. Other than that it went well. Its basic Mexican restaurant, the food was perfect, I would say top 3 of mex. Rest. I have been too. Fro. The chips being fresh and crisp to the thick chunky salsa, all way to the perfectly cooked carne asade. Overall it would be top 3 of Mexican restaurants I have been too. And maybe if we had dif server it would have been 1. But still highly recommend.
P.S. if you do drink be sure to have driver bc the police patrol frequently bc of the bar next door.

It’s been a while since I ate at Rio Grande Mexican Grill because of my commute change. I was here today because this girl needed a drink! I had the pleasure to have Sara as my bartender tonight, I had no idea of what to drink and it was like she read my mind, she also offered something to eat, napkins, she was on TOP of her game! Which, as an introvert, I really appreciate. The whole staff is always so friendly, polite, kind, hardworkers, I always see how good they CLEAN the restaurant, and they always make me smile. But I got the biggest smile from the amazing service from Sara today, the chat with don José, and those PERFECT tacos al pastor that made me question why I ever even stopped coming to this place regularly. Thank you for all you do. You are noticed!

My family and I used to love this place. The last 3 times we have eaten there, however, have been lackluster. Poor service. Actually, it has been almost no service whatsoever. The food is not nearly as flavorful or plentiful as it has been in the past. They are always out of limes and hot sauce, or that’s what we were told??? Floors in the dining area and bathrooms are filthy. We have gladly taken our business elsewhere and it has been so satisfying.

We are visiting from out of town and were looking to have some Mexican food, so we went to the Rio Grande Mexican restaurant located in Hillsville, Virginia. My wife and I are so impressed. The portion sizes and the food were outstanding, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very warm, cozy, and inviting.
But the star of the show was our waitress, Martha Marquez. She met us with a smile right away, immediately got our appetizers and drinks, and was very patient as we tried to figure out what we wanted from the extensive menu. Martha was outstanding; she was a true professional with a beautiful personality.
We highly recommend this place, and if you are lucky enough to get Martha as your server, you have a winner.

We have always loved going to this place in the past but here lately the food has not been that great….I took my wife out to eat for her 60th Bday and this was her choice.
She ordered a Margarita and it was probably the worst Margarita we have ever tasted.
Then our food came…her order was supposed to have scallops and there were none….when my wife confronted the waitresses she said they were out is why…they never offered a substitute said they added shrimp but you can tell by the pics that was a lie.
My meal was supposed to be arroz texacano and it had no cheese, no flavor,raw veggies, and some piece of yuk included.
I would have taken more pics
but we were so disgusted with our meal and experience we were ready to leave.
I honestly doubt if we will ever eat here again.

Have been coming here for 20 years. This past year has been the worst.. much smaller portions than previously, increased prices, constant mistakes the last 4x we have gone, additional little fees that didn’t exist before. We boycotted them for 6 months for similar issues, no change.
We had a dine in issue a month ago. (Undercooked chicken) the “manager” who was 15 years old at best handled it very poorly. Additionally, it takes 45-60 min to get your food. You will be full on chips and salsa by the time you get it. They tie up the to-go order so tight, you cannot confirm what you have. Three bites of rice, a child size chip bag, etc.
I’ve never had an issue at any Mexican restaurant anywhere else. Tonight’s to-go order was greasy, even smaller portions. We are done for good this time.

Women’s restroom by the bar had no soap. It took a few minutes to get sat (11:45 lunch on Saturday). Chips and salsa came out quickly, but took probably 5 minutes to get greeted by server. Chips and salsa were very flavorful and fresh. Prices were very reasonable. We had to hunt down our server to get our check. I had the fajita taco salad which was fresh fried tortilla and full of sautéed chicken, green peppers, onion, lettuce, beans, queso, tomatoes, and sour cream.

I ordered shrimp fajitas with onions and tomatoes very little peppers. It came with mostly peppers. Server pointed out there’s onions under all those peppers. Didn’t offer to correct. She’s very cute but not a good server. Husbands trio was very good. We had to ask for the desert menu and the check. And waited and waited
