If I could give Rio Brazilian Steakhouse more than five stars, I genuinely would—it deserves an impossible 10 out of 5. This is not just a dinner; it’s a vibrant, immersive dining event that has cemented Rio as my absolute favourite place to eat.

The food here is simply outstanding, and the Rodizio service ensures you get to sample the wide array of meats on offer. While everything was fantastic, the star of the show, for me, was the signature Brazilian cut of rump, the Picanha. It is impossibly tender, barely requiring any chewing, and its flavour profile is deeper and richer than any conventional steak. This cut alone elevates the entire experience to another level.
The meal began perfectly with complimentary, delicious sides brought to our table, including the essential cheesy bread, a battered cheesy snack with a sweet chili dip, bottomless chips, and peppercorn sauce. While the gourmet salad bar is stunningly presented and comprehensive, I deliberately gave it a wide berth to ensure I had ample room for the main event—the continuous meat service.

A massive thank you must also go to our servers, Bethany and Anthony. Their blend of professionalism, attentiveness, and fantastic humour was the highlight of our evening. Without even being prompted, they realized it was my friend’s birthday and arranged a lovely surprise that genuinely made his night unforgettable. Their class and attention to detail are what set Rio apart.

I can’t rave enough about my recent visit! The meat was absolute perfection, especially the picanha and lamb, and the cheese breads were to die for. I recently had a great experience at this Brazilian steakhouse! Once we understood how the food and menu was organised we got stuck starting with the excellent salad bar The red-green card system is clever, although I think I missed out on a few meats because of it. The cheese breads were a highlight – simply loved them! This was a birthday treat for my wife so it was a perfect celebration. The service was top-notch, and I really appreciated the warm welcome. I can’t wait to go back and better organise my meal next time!

I called to book a table and the young girl who answered the phone was polite and helpful. Unfortunately, I could clearly hear the manager in the background snapping at her and telling her what to say while she was speaking to me. It wasn’t a great thing to overhear as a customer and came across very unprofessional.
I was told bookings couldn’t be taken over the phone and that I needed to book online, but that there was availability at 6:45. When I checked online, that time wasn’t available at all.
I called back to double check and this time the manager answered. The response was very abrupt and dismissive, and I was simply told there was nothing available until 9pm with no effort to help or clarify the earlier information.
I regularly visit the Jesmond branch and have always had excellent service there, which is why I thought I’d try the Durham restaurant.
Based on this interaction alone, the level of professionalism and management seems very different. It’s disappointing when a brand you enjoy elsewhere gives such a poor first impression at a new location

I recently visited this Brazilian steakhouse and had an awesome time! The meats were cooked to perfection, especially the Alcatra and Ribeye; they really nailed the quality and taste. The warm welcome and attentive service made the experience even better. I only found the spicy chicken wings a bit lacking in flavour, but everything else was spot on.
