I wanted to try something and somewhere new that wasnt just a chain restaurant. That “hole in the wall” itch was in full force and absolutely was scratched coming here. The customer service was incredible and the small hole in the wall warm and cozy feel is perfect. If you’re wanting some idea of a sanitized 5 star restaurant with no soul, go somewhere else. This place is like waking into your friends house. Small, warm, inviting, and delicious. Their chips are so light compared to most chips ive had, so you may accidentally go through a basket or 3. Worth it. I got the chilaqueles with fried eggs. No beef or chicken but damn it was good. If youre in this area and need a quick bite or even a cute date spot, this will do it. Its not pretending to be anything other than a home to eat. And in that, it excels. Erica is the best, tell her you saw this review!

My last visit to Rio Balsas Taqueria was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable, and it had nothing to do with the food. The main issue was the server, whose behavior was rude, dishonest, and unprofessional from start to finish.
From the moment we were seated, the server had an attitude—short responses, eye-rolling, and a clear lack of interest in doing his job. Simple questions were met with annoyance, and we felt rushed the entire time even though the restaurant was not busy. Instead of making us feel welcome, he made it clear we were an inconvenience.
The worst part happened after we left. When checking the receipt later, we noticed a huge tip added that we absolutely did not authorize. We did not write or approve that amount, yet it appeared on our final charge. It felt deceptive and dishonest, especially considering how poor and rude the service had been. As customers, we trust that our payment is handled accurately and ethically, and this experience completely broke that trust.
What made this even more upsetting was the feeling that the server knowingly took advantage of us after we had already left and could not immediately address the issue. Whether intentional or due to negligence, this should never happen, and it reflects very badly on the restaurant’s management and oversight.

This place has amazing food at a great cost. Me and my family absolutely loved everything in the picture including the taquitos, beef burrito, steak fajita, and ofcouse, the chips. The service was amazing and they also gave extra chips and tortillas free of cost because we asked which is nice. Highly recommend this quaint authentic Mexican place. Would definitely come again.

Eh, I should have known this wasn’t all that great when we walked in. It was only 2 other people inside and one person was just drinking. Our waitress was nice but that’s the only thing I can say which was nice. There were flies inside the place which I had to keep swatting away, my chicken tacos I ordered were extremely chewy. I couldn’t eat them all cause I was afraid the chicken wasn’t cooked all the way through. Sadly, I won’t be coming back here.
