Stopped here by accident because we noticed the line from the road. We were on our way to visit a few state parks and we were looking for lunch. I know fried chicken and hiking doesn’t go together, but any “hole in the wall” that had a line almost out to the road was surly not going to disappoint. We ordered an 8-piece bucket, (freshest fried chicken myself, or by boyfriend have ever had), a fry with their delicious homemade ranch, and a cup of the Carolina gold sauce as well as a chicken sandwich (puts ole Chick Fil A to shame, buddy). Food was fast, customer service was friendly and chicken was, like the other reviews say, probably the best friend chicken I’ve ever had in my life.

If you find yourself traveling U.S. Route 278, which runs from Arkansas to Hilton Head, consider picking up some mighty fine fried chicken at Rigdon’s en route to your destination that day. Fried chicken travels well.
We stopped by 10 minutes before closing on a Saturday afternoon, the chicken offerings were limited but still served up hot and fresh with a smile.
Bottom line: We think this is some of the best fried chicken we’ve ever had anywhere.
A few quick things:
• Fast and friendly
• Take-out only*
• Open until 3 PM Saturdays
• Closed Sundays
• Off the main road, behind McDonalds
• Credit cards accepted
* Either call ahead and pick up your order inside OR place an order on the spot outdoors at the side window. In other words, the indoor counter is for called in orders only.

Everything about this place is just as great as it can be, we stopped by because of the great smell and the food was just delicious, the people there are nice and welcoming. I had a cheeseburger and fries and my boyfriend got a chicken sandwich + wings. You should try it!

Literally served better chicken fifteen minutes before closing than some places serve at 2pm. hot,,crispy,and DELICIOUS!!! Lady that answered the phone and the lady at the window were super nice! GREAT pricing too!! My first visit,but ABSOLUTELY won’t be my last!!!!

Kindest staff, tastiest chicken. The people working here are super nice, and they prepare some amazing fried chicken! Small restaurant and takeout only. Very affordable, saw a ton of locals grabbing called in orders.

Best fried chicken I’ve ever had. There’s a reason there is a line to place your order. We’ll worth the wait. I was in the area visiting, so glad we drove by and saw all the people. I just knew this chicken had to be the best with that many customers in life e.
I had the 2 breast with fries and coleslaw. The chicken is SO meaty but cooked to a tender juicy perfection while the batter is light and crispy, not over done. The batter is season to perfe tion, I didn’t add salt or pepper, it didn’t need it! There is batter for every bite!! I filled up completely on one breast and enjoyed the se one readt the next day. Warmed it up in my air fryer and enjoyed it as much as the first day.
I’m not sure how they offer such ge erous portions for less than a meal at a fast food joint but they do. If I ever pass within 30 miles of Hampton, SC again I will detour to Rigdon’s for sure!!
