We should’ve turned around and left when we walked in at 7 PM and literally no one was there. There was one couple that left as we were seated. The waiter was nice. The food looked good but lacked in flavor. No salt and pepper in the world I could put on there to give it any kind of flavor. There was no flavor at all with the food and my husband end up getting sick. We went here before back in April and it was so good but this time I don’t know what went wrong, but we will never go back.

I am not a gambling woman. I don’t even put my money in a shifty looking coke machine. I don’t even like to say “you bet!” Because this life doesn’t come with guarantees.

So I don’t get to the Casinos much other than to take photos of storms rolling in from the tops of their garages, or occasional friends from out of town that book the nicest cheapest motels in town. So when Live Casino & Hotel Louisiana let me know it was restaurant week where they offer a set menu (you have options) with everything from apps to drinks to dessert for a lower than normal price I decided now was the time to try Ridotto Grand Cafe, Louisiana.

This modern contemporary space oozes a comfortable opulence from the painted framed light fixtures to the cushy velvet high backed booth chairs, which I needed… because woah baby I had no idea what was about to happen in that seat.

FIRST I ordered the meatballs, our lovely waiter, Mark (but some people call him James) said it was the most popular thing on the menu, and I can see why. I know we’re all missing the “old” meatballs from *ahem* a few of our favorite Italian places in town… but these were big and round and juicy and herbaceous. They’re covered in a non-sweet non-spicy but flavorful marinara (I’m told the vodka sauce has a little more spice to it) and they bring you 3 of them.

We also got the fried mozzarella as an addition to our $49 resturant meal deal, crispy squares of fresh mozzarella that’s chewy and gooey and topped with Parmesan and giardinera which adds a tangy picker kick to the cheese pull-tastic bites.

But the REAL jackpot from the penny slots is the garlic bread

WORTH EVERY BIT OF ITS $8 price tag… or more … Wow. This house made focaccia is airy and crispy without being crunchy or chewy and it is drenched… and I mean absolutely drenched in the most delicious red pepper garlic butter I have ever had… the last time I had something similar it was the shrimp scampi I ate once a week from Campisi’s in Dallas… one of my favorte dishes.

This lump of loaf and those meatballs are going to be my lunch tomorrow…

BUT WAIT… there’s more…

The restaurant week entree we got was the chicken parmesan. I was hesitant to get it because I get more bad ones than good ones, and I really wanted a winner. Then the manager who came by and asked how we were doing and. I couldn’t even describe it to him without holding my belly like I’m pregnant, confirmed this was a “can’t miss”.

He’s not kidding. The chicken was perfectly tender, pounded flat and breaded and fried covered in marinara and again, a thick layer of hot melty good quality cheese. It took up a whole plate. Then he sat down ANOTHER large bowl of al dente spaghetti covered in sauce and cheese.

I was already full but I managed a couple of bites while I adjusted myself in my seat and again wondered why I couldn’t be a cow with 6 stomachs that I could just open and close when the food is this good.

I’d forgotten about dessert when Mark, who was remarkably knowledgeable about each dish, asked which one we would like. I was already ready to waddle out of there and packing up food in to-go boxes and just said “you pick.” He said “the cheesecake!” And inferred that was to-go too.

It’s lemon ricotta cheesecake topped with blueberries and mint. I’m eating it now watching Thursday night football in my fat pants after just an hour ago saying I’d need a crowbar to fit a bite in….

There’s always room for lemon ricotta blueberry cheesecake.

I am not a gambling woman, but I bet with my two-cents that you’re going to find Ridotto to be a real winner for higher end dining and solid Italian food.

Now… I need to try their breakfast (I hear the fruit covered ultra thick French toast is a winner too.)

Live! Restaurant week lasts till September 18! Link to all four of their restaurants special menus in the comments.

Restaurant Review: Ridotto, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Visit: February 22, 2024

During my recent visit to Ridotto in Bossier City, Louisiana, I had a genuinely delightful experience. The restaurant exudes a chic and inviting ambiance, perfect for a memorable dining experience.

I started my meal with calamari and mussels, both cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. For the main course, I tried the beef short rib ravioli and chicken parm. The beef short rib ravioli was rich and hearty, while the chicken parm was perfectly cooked, with a balance of spices that left my taste buds tingling.

To accompany the meal, I enjoyed two distinctive cocktails: the Cadillac Margarita and the Fiery Pineapple Smash. Both drinks were expertly crafted and provided a refreshing contrast to the main courses.

The service at Ridotto was top-notch. The staff was attentive, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.

Overall, Ridotto provided an outstanding dining experience with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and excellent service. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area and gladly give it a 5-star rating!

This is Jr’s FAVORITE place to go. We LOVE $10 pizza night. His favorite part is interacting with Chef Wes & Josh. They are ALWAYS so kind! Tonight Jr’s eyes got so big as Chef Wes threw his pizza high in the air! Mark, our server was amazingly patient & kind. He took extra time to interact with us & make our pizza night extra special.
When it was time to leave Jr wanted to stay longer because the staff is so welcoming. It’s like that EVERY time we visit here. Amazing pizza & service. Truly the gem of this casino. Our family is grateful!

Check this place out! We had our experience at the bar. The food was absolutely phenomenal, by far the best we had in the city during our stay. Ms. T made the experience very memorable with her fantastic customer service, she was so pleasant and we were very appreciative of her. We had the steak and eggs as well as the Eggs Benedict. Everything was wonderful and Ms. T made the best mimosas I have ever had! The steak was cooked to perfection and the everything was seasoned perfectly. Thank you to Ms. T for making our visit so amazing!

Came here during a promotion and extremely grateful we decided to.
The only downside was having to wait 15-20 min after our reservation time.
Our waitress, Sharel, was amazing.
We got the meatballs, garlic focaccia bread, pepperoni pizza, rigatoni, and chicken Alfredo.

The pizza was hands down the best in Shreveport, especially at $14, if you are fine with something basic. The focaccia bread is a must, it’s massive and delicious. The meatballs were a bit salty but hood; the rigatoni was cooked well but not amazing. The Alfredo was extremely good and the chicken was insanely tender.

Can’t wait to try their breakfast/brunch and will probably use them to get pizza to-go for now on.

Service and the atmosphere was amazing. The recipes need a LOT more flavors to them. The food was very bland and taste like pasta water. I got the fettuccine with shrimp. We asked the waiter for some Cajun seasoning and it still didn’t help. Shane is an amazing server and would love to come back after improvements have been made to the recipes. 😉

Richard is THE waiter to request! He’s attentive and detail oriented. Order the jalapeño shrimp and Gouda grits, superb. He also accommodated our favorite pizza combo of fresh pineapple and jalapeños with balsamic reduction. Italian margs and mozzarella squares with vodka sauce for apps to start. We can’t wait to come back!
