We recently visited Ridgerunner Café during a day trip to Devil’s Den State Park. The setting is beautiful — near the swimming pool and falls, it has a charming, rustic vibe that fits perfectly with the park’s atmosphere.

The food was generally good — However, we were disappointed to find that the flatbread was already sold out when we arrived around 2 PM, which was a letdown.

One area that definitely needs improvement is the service. It took quite a while for someone to bring us menus, and surprisingly, we weren’t offered water at all during our meal.

Overall, Ridgerunner Café has a lot of potential with its great location and solid menu, but the service experience needs some polishing — especially during peak hours. Would recommend for the food and setting, but go early for the full menu and be prepared for a relaxed (and possibly slow) pace.

Hands down and amazing place to eat! Chef was serving and waiting on tables and he did an amazing job multitasking. Several other parties were there the first night we came and he handled it with patience. Presentation of the food was spectacular and tasted even better.we each had a salad that was out of this world and then breakfast the next morning. Do not pass up a chance to sit outside and enjoy the scenery! Only complaint is I wish we would have had time for a burger and a beer.

I did a take out meal with three different burgers. They were excellent. Three different flavors worked well together. Service was helpful with plenty of people in the kitchen, they got it out in record time. The old CCC built building is and of hard to get the front (of their section) open, but it’s climate controlled with outside seating under a deep shade. The old laderback basket weave chairs inside & benches outside. It was a wonderful experience. We look forward to eating here again.

I live in West Fork and hike Devils Den almost every other week. Somehow this week was my first time trying out the Ridgerunner Cafe. Service was prompt, the staff was friendly, and the food was great. Wife and I both got the “Fossil Flats Flatbread.” No complaints at all, and Ridgerunner Cafe will definitely be added to our dinner rotation.

Very nice rustic location. Sweet tea was sweetened just right, sweet but not overly southern sweet.
Farmer’s market flatbread was excellent. Mix of veggies, mushrooms, goat cheese and I want to say a balsamic reduction drizzle. This alone makes the five stars.
Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Nice mountain hiking trails in the surroundings.
Excellent day hiking topped with a wonderful lunch.

The chef accommodated our vegetarian diet by offering us tofu and veggie breakfast tacos! We were so surprised and happy. She seasoned the tofu and veggies with delicious spices and fresh salsa. If you have any dietary issues just know they will kindly help! The stone building with pretty water views was a treat, too. We will be back!

Nice restaurant by the water body and inside the state park. There was table outside patio to enjoy the food. The server was nice and served warm food for all. It’s a bit rustic slow paced restaurant where you can enjoy a little waterfall and take some pictures. The food tastes awesome specially the sandwiches and burgers.

Great staff! They were very friendly and accommodating to my dietary preferences. They were easily able to swap a meat dish for tofu for me, and told me about many other dishes that they will have available on there full season menu. I look forward to eating with them again on our next visit to the park.

Great service! Great portions. Really really great food! How to find it: you’ll park in the lot next to the pool and walk past the pool towards the building/pavilion. The door is a solid wood door inside of the “back” of the pavilion area, there is a open window/door that it seems you can order and sit in the pavilion, we went inside the indoor seating area.
Indoor seating is a rustic look (wood tables, wood chairs, wood walls, and large wall filled stone fireplace). I believe it was 9 tables of 4 per table.
We ate here on a Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch. Only one family (of 8) was sitting inside and no-one outside sitting. So, we didn’t expect much of a wait. It’s a seat yourself place and they’ll come out to you. Unfortunately, like many food places, they are understaffed and there was only 1 young lady working who was taking food orders AND cooking everything. We waited about 20 minutes before she came out and even saw us (she was cooking the food for the family of 8!). We felt pretty bad for her, and she was apologetic and very professional. We didn’t mind, but we were pretty hungry, so it could have been a better experience, but this is NOT her fault, she deserves a TON of credit for what she was doing.
Orders and how it went:
I ordered Lee Creek Benny (look it up, it’s interesting) and a coffee. She made the coffee fresh just for us, it was hot and great. The Benny was freaking AMAZING! I was shocked as to how good the food was, tbh – I mean, it’s a campground, and she should be cooking for a classy restaurant! The presentation was fantastic as well, super surprised.
Wife ordered biscuits and gravy, with cocoa gravy, and a sweet tea (only because they don’t have a good selection of coffee creamers). She said the sweet tea was homemade and very good! Her order came out wrong (was sausage gravy, not coca gravy), but she felt bad and didn’t say anything. 5 minutes later, the gal came back out having herself realized the mistake and she greatly apologized – again, super professional! She didn’t charge us for that. Wife didn’t mind, she said it was delicious! It was also a LOT of food for her.
Kids shared the Breakfast Platter with pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage. She brought it out perfectly split onto two plates! So nice, so they didn’t have to split it up and argue, lol. They both got 2 pieces of bacon, 1 sausage patty, 2 pancakes, some scrambled eggs, and a slice of watermelon. It was so much, neither finished it… so I helped. HA! It was delicious as well.
My son also ordered a chocolate milk. It was kind of fancy and he loved it. She really really went above and beyond. She deserves a raise and huge tip! BTW: they don’t allow tips if you use a card, so you will want to bring cash to drop on the table because she definitely deserved it (we left a tip, even though the receipt hints NOT to do it).
Again, this is a gem hidden in a nature park. Go find it, even if you’re just driving around the park or going for a walk. Enjoy!!

Certainly, the beauty, serenity, and exciting hikes are the main draw at Devil’s Den State Park, but why haven’t we all heard of the Ridge Runner Café right there in the park? It is a true gem with rustic ambiance and absolutely delicious food! The meal selection is unexpectedly modern with taste combinations we’d never seen before. My husband had difficulty choosing which mouthwatering burger to order while I jumped to the Devil’s Bowl and savored every single bite. Complemented by the strawberry lemonade it was a dinner to remember. Thank you, Justin!
