We were looking for some drinks and food on our way to an Everett AquaSocks game and stumbled upon Ridgecrest Public House and are now hooked.
First and foremost, the woman who curates the tap list is simply phenomenal. She not only has a great selection of hyper local beers (everything is from Seattle north to the border) but actually knows beer styles and can give specific information about everything she is pouring, as well as highly effective recommendations for something that will fit your particular needs. My wife and I are international beer judges and finding a bartender who can tell us more than simply whether something is dark/light is unusual. Here, however, when I asked for a good light non-hoppy beer, but voiced hesitation at trying a Northwest (usually hoppier than I like) pilsner (I love Continental pilsners) she steered me towards and assured me that I would like what ended up being a perfect pilsner from Chuckanut. In fact, it was so good that we’re actually on the hunt for more beers from that brewery, so she not only did right by her pub, but actually helped create a new fan for Chuckanut. (We had several other beers we quite enjoyed too.)
Second, we were quite impressed with the ambiance, with plenty of different seating areas and even with live music out back, the sound level inside the pub was very pleasant. (I didn’t even know there was live music until I wandered out back – that’s how good the sound control is, which is something we appreciated.)
And although they offer their own food menu, we were impressed that they also allow outside food from whichever food truck is parked out front. On this particular night, the truck was Momo Express, which was some of the best Vietnamese food we’ve ever had.
Finally…the Lopez Island Ice Cream! We discovered this ice cream years ago and it truly is some of the best…and that is saying a lot considering how much of an ice cream connoisseur I am. In fact, when we first walked in and were trying to decide if we were going to stay and dine/drink at Ridgecrest, it was the Lopez Island Ice Cream on their menu that convinced us this place was legit. If they cared enough to carry the best local ice cream, then we figured it was worth sticking around and trying their beer and food (truck.) Seriously, little things like offering quality ZERT items makes a huge difference to those of us who pay attention to the finer details. And they don’t mess around when it comes to scoop sizes. They gave each of us nearly a pint of ice cream!!! with the salted caramel being one of the top 5 ice creams we’ve ever had. (The cookies and cream is seriously legit too!)
We figured this visit would be a one off, but after having such a great all around experience, now plan to make a special trip to visit Ridgecrest Public House every time we’re in Seattle in the future. Downtown Seattle has some great food and drink options, but we will be recommending to all our friends that they make the short drive out to Ridgecrest if they want a delicious and authentic Seattle dining/drinking experience.
Thanks for the great time, Ridgecrest. We hope to see you again soon…and often!!!
Local sandwich truck outside.
Mulled wile for the winter months.
What more can you ask for?
Great atmosphere and place to meet up with friends.
Six stars if I could.
I’ll be coming back! Cheers!
