My wife and I ate dinner at Rickenbacker’s for the first time last night. Food quality – 5, food choices – 4, service – 5 (James), atmosphere – 5, overall value – 4. Overall, we had a great experience. There are just two issues/suggestions we have. First, we felt the price point was a little high for the Ogden area. We also felt that for the prices being charged, customers should receive vegetables and perhaps a small dinner salad–or at least one or the other. Our total bill was about $55 with no side dishes added. There are many restaurants around that for similar prices, you do get a salad and vegetables. But as I said, it was a great restaurant experience overall. We will definitely be back!

This place is a Diamond in the Rough.

Excellent food, atmosphere, service and value. It was recently recommended to us by a friend and has become a family favorite. We have been three times and it has gotten better each time we have gone. The children’s food portions are what you would expect for a full adult serving. Im not typically a dessert guy, but we order dessert every time we go.

The atmosphere is relaxing, full of character & classy and our family loves seeing the large WW1 planes in the entry. Dining here is an experience. It has been very quiet on the nights we have gone. One of the top restaurants I have been to in Utah is tucked away on the south end of the Ogden Airport. Give it a shot. You wont be disappointed!!

I had heard such good things about this place, as I had family that went all the time. We went with them last night, and it was very disappointing. We requested a reservation at 6, but they said they could only do 6:30. We got there, thinking it would be packed, and there were 2 tables seated. The waiter then only suggested the highest priced items on the menu. Service was slow. We waited almost an hour to get any food. And they don’t do sides with the meals anymore. If you want a salad or anything it’s a extra $5. Service was awful, and the chefs were messing around. The had chef left in the middle of an order for a smoke break. The food was over cooked and odd. Definitely will not go here again for the quality of food for the ridiculous price they were charging.

My Husband and I decided last minute to go to Rickenbacker’s for a Valentine’s date Saturday (2/16/13). We knew it was a long shot that we would get in anywhere since we called multiple places and no one had reservations. We got there about 5:30 and they were expecting many parties at that time but told us we could sit in the bar area at a table. We were right by the bar and I would have to say that we got the best service in the house. We ordered the Scallops for an appetizer and they were delicious. We had their House Clam Chowder and it was some of the best we’ve ever had and we go to Maine quite often and it was better than most there. We both ordered the Prime Rib and we got it exactly as we ordered it. I thought everything was great and we will be back.

Horrible experience! Had reservations for 7:30pm. Arrived & were seated-party of 4. Only 2 other tables of 4 -preparing to leave, a table of 8 & our table. Waitress gave of menus & asked if we were ready to order! We’re used to having a drink & appetizers before the entree so we asked for a wine list & said we wanted a appetizer. She seemed surprised & said “Well I’ll start you out with some water.” We had to ask again for the wine list. 3 of the 4 order a drink. She brought only 2. We had to ask twice for the wine order. The waitress brought the glass of wine & said (and I quote) “There are only 2 of us waiting table tonight so you’ll have to cut me some slack.” At that point there were only 2 tables in the place. We ordered our appetizer & our entree at the same time. Finally the entree was served & was cold. Our entree wasn’t served until 9:08 pm!!! By this time we were the only diners there. Our baked potatoes were cold. Our steaks were cold. One diner ordered the beans without cheese-they were served beans with cheese. One diner ordered asparagus but was served beans with cheese. Our bill without the tip was $126.00!! We had debated whether or not to go to the Timbermine or Rickenbacker’s & chose Rickenbacker’s for the view as we were entertaining out of state guests. What a poor choice. We will never return. I shared the experience with friends this morning at coffee & 2 of them had the same experience! We use to go there for lunch to celebrate birthdays but never again!! This place needs to close for good!! The reviewers that think it’s a good place to eat must not get out much!!

We went last night, which was New Year’s Eve. We had made reservations and had gotten there early.
They said it would be 10 minutes until the table was ready. But as we were walking to the bar for drinks, there were empty tables. Well the bar was quit the experience. Our friend wanted a frozen Margurita, they didn’t have the mix. Then she wanted a Whiskey Sour, Didn’t have the stuff. She ended up with a Mimosa but they weren’t sure they had Champagne. My husband wanted a Bloody Mary, but they didn’t have Absolute Vodka. I wanted Rum and Coke and they didn’t have any name brands. I took what they had but it was awful.
We ordered from the special menu they had. The main course was where I had problems. The prime rib for my husband and friend was ok. But I got the potato crusted Halibut. Terrible. It came luke warm, it was tough, I had to use a steak knife to cut it. It sure didn’t flake apart. The waitress never came back to see how dinner was, she didn’t ask if we wanted something else to drink.
This place used to be packed on the Holidays, but this was not good. I don’t know if this is a management problem or a cook problem. But I doubt if we will be going back.

Have eaten there many times and never had a bad meal or experience. The prime rib is very tender, always to the specified cooking level, and their stuffed mushrooms are out of this world. Would recommend them to anyone. Steak chili is awesome!! Pricing is very competitive for a steakhouse.

Two years ago Rickenbacker’s had a Unique romantic Ogden location and a menu you couldn’t find anywhere else, on top of that, it was well priced. My hubby and I went last week and were very disappointed. Since the reopening the Unique romantic Ogden location stayed exactly the same, however the menu changed greatly. Seemed like there was an increase in price, the menu is more main stream but not unique at all, can go to any restaurant and get the same thing. Our server left our table untouched with many plates laying around for a long time. Just isn’t what it used to be. Won’t go back!

We had the BEST experience here tonight! The food is amazing, the service is amazing and we are so happy that you have really gotten the essence of what locals want! No more stuffy attitudes and over the top cuisine. Only great food, great prices, great wine selection and amazing staff. Thank you for changing my opinion and revamping the place! We will definitely be back and we will be spreading the word!

I had heard that Rickenbackers had gone through a managment change so the wife and I decided to give it one more try. We had been there when it first opened and wasn’t impressed. Hearing about the change gave us some hope…. boy were we let down. The service was sub par at best. The food was HORRIBLE!! I’ve had a better steak at Sizzler!!! I ordered the Porter House and asked for it Medium rare, when it arrived not only did it taste like someone had dropped the pepper shaker on it, it was charred and almost frozen in the middle!! The meat itself was grissled and not a good very good cut. For 32.00 I expected more. The wife ordered the chicken that came with some asparagus… the same guy who spilt the pepper on my steak managed to do the same with her asparagus. When we didn’t eat the majority of our dinner the waitress asked if there was something wrong with the food? Trying to be nice and not make a fuss we told her that it was ok but not really satified with the meal… she told us she would get her manager and have him come and talk to us but he never showed up to our table and when the check came she told us she would get us a free desert for the next time we came in. I told her we were not coming back and thanks for the offer. It’s a shame because the atmosphere and views are awesome!!
