It breaks my heart that I have to give them three stars as their food has always been great. But sadly, the quality has lowered and their prices have increased. The noodles tasted okay but it was lacking in sauce which made it kinda dry. The basil stir-fried tasted fine but the portion size was extremely small! It was more like an appetizer than a meal. It felt like a rip off for $18.99. I want to support small businesses like Joy’s but it’s a hard pill to swallow when it costs $60 to feed two people.
Wife ordered “pad prik khing “ with beef and it was very good too (Rating 4.5/5).
I ordered Thai fried rice with no meat and mild spice level so our son could also have it . It turned out to be good just didn’t meet the flavor I was hoping for (Rating 4/5).Maybe should order medium spice level next time.
Service: We went in around 8pm when the closing time was around 8.30pm – jasmine tea ordered was not as hot and they didn’t charge us for it . Service was not the best but considering we went close to closing time ok to overlook (Rating -3.5/5).
Ambience: it had been many years since we last visited this place – they have upgraded their bowls , plates and silverware which were nice (Rating – 4/5).
Overall Rating -4.5/5
I was disappointed in both dishes. The restaurant was out of mangoes so i ordered just the sticky rice which had very little sauce, making it taste like regular rice with a slight flavor.
The curry had very little sauce as well. The flavor was spicy and bland. The pumpkin was the only saving factor. The pumpkin was amazing, but the dish would need more to be worth ordering again. I added eggplant to the dish and it did help a little.
Ordered Red Curry Seafood to go.
Their spices level is pretty high next. It was very flavourful and had a lot of different seafood in it.
Recommend this place and definitely will be coming back.
Staff is well-versed in what can be made vegan.
Pineapple fried rice- very impressive plating.
Tofu Pad Thai- excellent with good-sized veggie chunks. Excellent flavor
Veggie Spring Rolls- good. Like that it comes with three sauce options.
My husband loved his drunken noodles and wants to only order from here for Thai from now on. I also love that the kids meal include simplified Thai dishes, as opposed to so many places that only offer American trash food for kids. My kid really likes their kids Pad Thai.
Only teeny issue I’d mention is they don’t mess around with spice. I’m not docking anything from the rating tho bc they clearly state that their spicy is spicy. But I got mild (the lowest aside from “no spice”) and it was still pretty spicy. I don’t want to choose no spice bc I like the added kick & flavor, but I feel like mild should be able to be tasted by a kid who’s ok with a little spice without requiring a milk chaser. My kid who puts franks hot sauce of Mac n chz couldn’t do more than one bite of my mild dish.
But everything was delicious, the service was quick, and the portions definitely were enough for dinner and leftovers!
