First time eating here in a very long time! The interior has not changed much, and of course the prices are much higher, but the food is still pretty good. The homemade aspect to many offerings sets this place apart, such as the homemade hotdog chilli, tuna salad, egg salad, slaw etc. Upon arrival, there was a line up to the window to place your order. I ordered the footlong hotdog, fries and drink combo for $11+ You seat yourself, and the server brings your tray to you, with surprising accuracy. No names, order numbers, just memory of who ordered what. That’s astounding, especially considering the full restaurant. I ordered the hot dog with just mustard, so I could taste the Chilli, and it was definitely not from a can. The dog itself was a standout in flavor and juiceyness. Fries were very hot and beverage was accurate and cold. My dining partner chose the burger with all the fixings, and deemed it delicious, and filling. The diner like atmosphere definitely dates the place, but I like it’s simple tables and cinder block walls. I noted alot of diners ordered two dogs instead of the footlong, so on my next trip I’ll have to do a price comparison between the two. I returned to the window for a beverage refill, and after waiting, I was given a partial refill free, but I would have gladly paid the posted 75 cents for a full refill. The window staff did not smile during this transaction. Please note, this is a CASH ONLY establishment. No credit cards or checks are accepted! I will definitely return, and not wait 10 years between visits. There is no drive through.

Best burger experience. If you want a true American burger, this is it. We’ll priced. Soda better than fast food chain, fries crispy, burger juicy. Good ice cream too.
Cash only tho. Still 10/10

Easily the best burger on the East Coast! I grew up in Roanoke and joined the military, which took me all over the world—and still, nothing compares to the flavor and quality of Richee Freeze. It’s a hometown staple I make sure to visit every time I’m back. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and not once have I had a bad experience. If you’re anywhere near Roanoke, do yourself a favor and stop by. 10/10, every time!

I don’t know how I have not reviewed this place yet, but this is honestly one of my favorite places in Roanoke. The staff treats you like family and always works promptly to get the order out. Fantastic people and the food is amazing.

Stopped in for the first time by recommendations online and it did not disappoint. These burgers are so good and fresh. The service was very quick and friendly, greeted us right away as we walked in, and everything came exactly as ordered. Will definitely be back to keep supporting! I was so sad to see they weren’t very busy at the time but a fast food chain down the street was 20 cars deep for inferior food!

Food was and is always fantastic! Restrooms could use a deep clean. Parking lot has more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. Can’t wait to go back

It was my first experience, at the establishment. It’s a little cafe, with not much parking. The prices were fair, food was just okay. The building is an older one. There was a slow stream of people coming in, and ordering. The lady at the register knew them by name, so they must be regulars. I was really put off, and watched the lady at the register, taking orders handling money, to proceed to cut tomato slices. No gloves, no hand washing, continued back at the register! That’s very bad food handling practice, just sayin’.

I had a pretty good burger, fries, and drink here for a reasonable price ($10 + tax). The food was tasty so can’t complain there.

However, the interior is pretty grimy and makes you question the cleanliness of the kitchen. There was no soap in the very scary bathroom. You can tell they are short staffed because orders took about 30-40 minutes and this was on a Wednesday evening.

I’d come back here if I was already in the area craving a burger and fries and willing to overlook an icky ambiance, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.
