We planned on only going in for ice cream because we loved the retro theme of this cafe, but we found ourselves here for lunch instead. We were seated immediately and I was excited to see lots of options for food including daily specials. Our food was fresh and delicious and service was fast. Our waitress was wonderful and checked in regularly and made sure that we were offered drinks to go which was a nice added bonus. We will definitely be back for ice cream AND food if we get to visit this charming town again.

Exactly what I would want from a Classic Diner experience. Great food (and fast), friendly staff, good prices. Topped off with a perfect to-go milkshake. Traveling alone, I sat at the counter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. They had two vegetarian options which was super unexpected but I was very grateful for. The first option, I forget what they called it but it was like a grilled cheese with all kinds of veggies inside was amazing! Quite possibly the best vegetarian meal I have had out and about ever! The chocolate milkshake left something to be desired, maybe it was just too chocolatey for my tastes? The server was very pleasant and the atmosphere was great! We felt very comfortable here. Overall the dining room was clean, and the bathroom was way cleaner then most places for sure! All in all we will be back the next time we are in Mathews.

Slaw was perfect. Fries were nice and salted just right. Awesome 50’s Era atmosphere. Looks like you just step back in time. Service was fast and food was hot. Milkshakes were spot on. Can’t wait to go back and have some really good down home food.

Outstanding place to eat. The decor takes you back to the 50s! The food and service were excellent. I had the Greek shrimp wrap with chips. Enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly and helpful. Great dining experience. Will definitely be back when I am in the area.

We came for Saturday late lunch and it was busy but they had a table for us. The hamburger steak with onions was delicious. The gravy was very tasty and the seasoned chips was the best part. The fried shrimp was great too. We had the creme brûlée cheesecake and it was creamy and smooth. Service was fine.

We happened to stop in Richardson’s for lunch- really great food! I am gluten free & the caprese hamburger on a gluten free bun was sooo good! My husband had a cheese burger with mushrooms and says it’s the best food he has had during our stay here! I love the old photos on the wall- just like the book “The Matthew’s Men” where it sited that on Saturday the Mathew court house was flooded with 2,000 people during the 40’s. The photos are there on the wall bringing you back to this era!

Love this atmosphere. The food was good and well-priced, the sides were not typical, and the desserts were worth their weight in gold. The waitresses were great and the food came out quickly. We are from out of town and this place was recommended. Glad we followed that advice!
