I’ve been wanting to try rice vice for a minute now, but it just slipped down the list. I’m glad I finally made it out there because it is wonderful! The service is fantastic and knowledgeable, the interior looks exactly like a Japanese sake bar (at least I think so) and the sake is delicious. Rice Vice makes their own sake while also serving Japanese varieties. There’s cocktails, beer, and Japanese whiskey for you to sip on if sake isn’t your thing as well.

Food is limited but we were lucky and stumbled in before they started their pop up (maybe?) Nia! We shared the cucumbers, Japanese potato salad and lavash appetizers. The chef was quite knowledgeable on the menu and was very passionate about the food he was serving.

If you’re looking for a fun stop that’s out of the ordinary, please check out Rice Vice!

Proper Sake Co. (Rice Vice) is easily a 5-star standout in East Nashville, a short drive from Downtown. Their selection of house-made and Japanese sakes is incredibly diverse and delicious. And their the Koji IPA and house gin were both equally outstanding. The vibe is unmatched, with a killer soundtrack featuring the likes of De La Soul and MF Doom spinning while you sip. Make sure to order the togarashi corn nuts. They are the perfect salty, spicy pairing for a sake flight. This place blends high-quality craft brews with a cool atmosphere. Looking forward to retuning!

Very cozy and hip atmosphere, the bartender was very knowledgeable and attentive. Loved the food pop up – delicious crab Rangoon dip. I tried the flight with a friend and The Diplomat was our favorite but they were all good!

I almost don’t want to rate what is one of my top 3 favorite bars because it’s such a hidden spot and I selfishly want to keep it that way. Rice Vice deserves the love though. As far as I know this is the only place in Nashville with local sake on tap and such a wide selection of imported Japanese sake. The bartenders are experts on Sake several of them are involved in making it in the attached brewery. If you are wanting to try Sake but not sure how to start this is the place for you. If you are a sake connoisseur Rice Vice has you covered as well. Their curated and ever changing list of imports will always give you something new and fun to try. They also carry some good Japanese beer and make delicious sake cocktails. The bar is sleek but comfy with warm wood tones and low level neon light setting the right mood. The sound system is high quality vinyl with an eclectic selection you might expect to hear The Roots, Supertramp, Sinatra, the Pink Panther soundtrack, a pop punk band and Wu Tang all in one sitting. There is parking around the side of the building and the area is a little industrial but don’t let the lack of other places nearby worry you, it is after all a working brewery. The outside patio is shaded with a fire pit and very comfortable when the weather is nice. They don’t have a kitchen but can heat you up some snacks, like bagel bites or a bowl of instant ramen. They often have restaurants come in and do a little Pop up kitchen which can be really fun. Trivia currently on Thursday nights! Overall this place really should be on your must try list.

Always a pleasure dining here. An excellent local Saké brewery. Rice Vice/Proper has a gorgeous bar and all the staff are knowledgeable and kind. The space is clean and has a polished vibe that accommodates any meet up, to work remotely from, and most importantly to eat and enjoy drinks at.

Reopened in a new location! What an awesome selection of both sake they brew on site and well as some imported gem’s! They will try to have food trucks or some food available to compliment the sake as well. Can’t wait to be back!

Nice little sake bar and truly a hidden gem. Cozy, nice ambiance, and a good little patio when it warms up. I wished there was hot sake on the menu for chilly nights, I didn’t see it on the menu. Great staff as well as a solid selection of sake to choose from. It’s away from all the noise and tourists and a truly unique place. I will definitely return and tell some friends about this place and hoping it’s not discovered by too many peeps.

Great vibes and atmosphere in a tucked away secret little spot in East Nashville. Even if you don’t seek out sake, you’ll enjoy what they have. If you don’t know what you want, the bar keep has excellent taste. Also try the Koji Gold beer.
